As a Republican, one thing our party needs to do a better job of is being more inclusive while still maintaining core values. Talking down to minorities as if they're children isn't beneficial in any way. Speaking to them as if they were equals (which they are) would be much more effective.

Instead of speaking to them as if they were children, they should be spoken to as adults. Trying to find out why they vote Democrat instead of Republican while treating them this way would be much more insightful as well. And who knows, if this practice permeates the Republican party (doubtful), then perhaps we can get their votes in the future.

But I've learned in life talking down to people rarely, if ever, brings them to your side. In fact just the opposite. No matter what good points you have.

My mom was on food stamps for three months. She took a second job at night to get off them. The children thing is more about teaching a child that they can handle things own their own at a young age. Wellllllll . . . based on their broadcast history it's fairly safe to assume that they will ignore that this anti-gun ownership Dem Party politician was armed and will ignore that she may very well have been intoxicated as well and will focus instead on her skin tone and her anger -- calling her rage perfectly justified. Oh and then if anyone dares to raise those other two issues Chris Matthews will pretty much end up accusing them of being racist (if they are White) or a radical right wingnut partisan if their skin tone is past a certain melanin count ratio.
