The picture is far from good should Republicans take the Senate during the November midterm elections.

Things one can look forward to losing or having great reductions made on are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and many other services those who are most dependent upon them such as the elderly, those who are sick, the poor, retired citizens, and minorities would lose. Unemployment benefits for those who need them while looking for work are also in peril and one can kiss raising the minimum wage goodbye with Republicans taking the Senate.

One can also forget about Americans being able to obtain money for infrastructure plus a host of other maladies that may well occur. That is why this is such a serious matter.

Cool. Another Raw Story Bull(*)(*)(*)(*) Fest.

Or do you think there will be a landslide of such epic proportions that the GOP will claim a veto-proof majority in both houses?

More “The GOP wants everyone to die” nonsense. A shift in power only indicates that they are fed up; a protest vote to this current set of government misfits, not in support of one party or the other.; and that more from a lack of better choices.

When the GOP took control of congress in ’96 the only thing they did was Welfare Reform; which got people off the dole and back to work. I don’t expect this round of GOPers to do much more than that. I don’t see them having the balls to address the deeper problems with these programs; which is fraud.

When the GOP has been in control, nothing has ever really changed. Please sleep well tonight knowing the world will not come to an end if the GOP takes control. In the end for these people, it’s more about politics and keeping their power than solving problems. You can be sure the status quo will be largely maintained.

If it did happen the big losers would end up being the American people. That's what is tough to bear.

you forgot the part where republicans steal candy from children...kick elderly people down flights of stairs... deport people who don't speak English.. raid the homes of the poor, shoot them, then cook them and eat them.

"What happens if the GOP takes control of the Senate?"

And the answer is -- absolutely NOTHING! -- "WTF?!"

That's right, gang -- NOTHING. President Adolf Obama has gotten very adept at ruling the country with his "pen and phone", and that is exactly what he will continue to do -- wait and see! He sneers at the House of Representatives now, and if Repubs take the Senate, he'll sneer at it, too. He wipes his ass with the Constitution, knowing that if anyone tries to summon the guts to rein him in, the hyperliberal ass-kissing Obamanite "news" media will curse them all as "RACISTS"! He has broken the LAW at least three times in the last three years -- do you think he will stop now?!

Do you guys seriously think for one minute that this radical, Marxist son-of-a-***** cares about what anybody else thinks except for those who have their lips welded to the cheeks of his ass...?! Obama is the son of Liberal legend, Lyndon B. Johnson, and the grandson of the great socialist demi-god, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He's a "man on a mission", with another two years and three months to inflict his kind of "change" on us all, and if the United States doesn't like it, the United States can just go to hell!

I'm afraid it is not nonsense. It is reality given that both Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell have said many times that they would make it very hard on the president to get his job done if they won the Senate and would CUT or Cut Back on many vital services those who are most in need of them in this country simply could not afford to lose. So make no mistake about it. My bringing this out is to elucidate what is harmful to the majority of citizens in this country who are not rich should there be a Conservative take-over.

The only thing that is going to happen is that a Republican-held senate would be reduced to the level of the Republican-held house in terms of popularity. That would make 2016 a cake-walk for Dems.

YEah... If the conservatives take over... it would be a disaster... like the city of Detroit.. Or the great state of California where people are moving out... Hell, if the conservatives take over --- just image the country like one big state of TEXAS!!! That's just insane!!!!

What you have said is patently false and despicable as well as disloyal to the Office of the President of the United States. I realize you do not like our president but you should at least have some better savvy about the Office of the President and how to properly deport yourself when addressing it as well as the president. Your vulgar language and word usage is utterly Outrageous and you should be ashamed of yourself for posting it.

Why do you think the democrats controlled Congress over 60 years with the exception of two years in the 1940s
All the things the republicans stand for today are exactly the same they stood for in the 1920s
When they controlled both the White House and Congress

    I hope you're right
but what you must realize is that the American voter today is subject to right wing propaganda that encourages them to vote against their own interests

one fact you must keep in mind during the depression corporations and the rich were far more powerful than they are today

When the GOP takes over the senate, the following laws will be proposed and passed nearly immediately:
    1. Put blacks back into chains.
    2. Mandatory sterilization for gays (as if that's needed, but it's a spite measure)
    3. Outlaw all forms of Islam. (No worry about constitutional concerns because the SCOTUS would uphold.) Anyone caught practicing Islam is subject to summary execution on the spot.
    4. Immediate impeachment of Barack Obama.

    1. You really should have spent more time in class , it was the Democrates that were the slave owners and they still exercise control over minorities to this day . Democrats got wiser and now use the invisible chains of welfare , food stamps and poor performing schools to keep them under control.
2.Sterilization of gays ? You made that brite statement ,not I .
    3. Outlaw Islam - this won't have to be done by the right as Islam is on a self destructive course all on its own .
4 . Impeach Obama _ you'll be hard pressed not to find a Dem Senator that wants that done before November. I say leave him in to really destroy the pitiful Democratic/Communist party.
Welcome to America the change is finally coming.

Got a link proving anything I said is "patently false"? I can produce links proving that this empty-suit, inept moron broke the law (the LAW) three times in the last three years.

Among them, he broke the War Powers Act when he inflicted acts of war on the government of Libya in 2011, when we were completely at peace with it, and had been for years! Now look at us! Apart from the Benghazi disaster, we've had our whole Embassy run out of Tripoli by the very Islamo-Nazis that Obama put in power there! Don't start something you can't finish because you want to intone some unctuous diatribe accusing me of not being sufficiently respectful to this autocratic, socialist DICTATOR! He is an anti-constitutional slimebag who thinks he has the right rule the nation with nothing but his "pen and phone" and he ought to have been impeached long before now! But do we see the Republicans rising up in a righteous rage against this Hitler?! Ooooh! That won't happen, because any legislator having the courage to start such an action would immediately be branded as a "RACIST"! . :cynic: -- "Oh, no! A fate worse than death!"

don't think so. There is the filibuster rules still in place. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if the incoming republican senate majority decided to change those rules to eliminate the possibility of their tactics of the past six year would come back and bite them in the arse.

then there is of course the presidential veto.

More gridlock, accusations, animosity and republicans still insisting that compromise is to do what they want.

    Nothing is going to happen....

    1) Obama can veto
    2) Republicans can't agree on anything amongst themselves, because there is now almost a three party system, democrats, moderate republicans and rabid right republicans. They won't be able to come up with a real agenda, just like they can't come up with one now. There may be more political theater passed that Obama will veto, like 40 more repeals of Obamacare. But they won't be able to pass anything meaningful because there is no way they could agree on anything significant.

After 6 long years of less than 2% mean GDP growth, the the American people have been the big losers.

    - - - Updated - - -

They can put the bills on his desk and force him to veto bills popular with the voters and make them very public. That would DOOM any chances of having another democrat President for a long time.
