I am no fan of Lucinda. She is not my cuppa tae, at all, at all.

As for Shane Ross, nah, too populist for my liking. I live in Stepaside and you may recall him organising a demonstration here against the closure of the local Garda (police) station. When friends of mine asked why I wasn't anywhere to be seen on TV at the protest, I replied that's because I wasn't there.

Ross organised the protest in the full knowledge that there was another two Garda stations within 3km either side of Stepaside: Dundrum and Cabinteely. All this while there were large towns in the Midlands of Ireland with no stations. He of course would have been aware of the reduced need of a station in every suburb of Dublin considering the range of mobile patrols and the increased efficiency of the dispatch systems. Sorry, I just don't do that sort of populist politics.

I was shocked by her vote in the POLDP act, of all the things for her to choose to go over board on. Its not a desire to vote for her just a frustration that MacWilliams and O'Toole teased before the last election. I am sick of tweedledum and tweedledee and now with a number of small left wing parties I'd like a balance and ideological discussion that forces them to get serious about ideology and what they want for the country something to eat into the votes and maybe even force a merger. I know but I can dream.

I honestly was not aware of that. My experience of Ross is his column and his input on the PAC, where I think he has been very good it is disappointing that he is engaging in parish pump stuff.
