    Wrong again, with a work permit they are not illegal. Sure they will, because all those employers are looking to hire people as we speak, after all the country has a worker shortage. Let me know when this begins happening in earnest and maybe I will believe what you are claiming, until then ...........................

    So... Illegal aliens are proclaimed to be legal while the law says they're illegal while US Government says employers do not have to pay penalties if they hire illegal aliens with work permits... Let me know when it begins to make sense !

    The President just overrode that law when it comes to specific people, have you been asleep for a long time and missed the news? Show many any companies paying fines for hiring illegals, show me any companies that have had their owners or managers arrested for hiring illegals, neither the Dems or Repubs go after them and they NEVER will, and yet you keep worrying about illegals being hired. Clue if a company hires illegals they do not have to provide them with benefits nor do they have to pay any penalties, never have and never will, end of the theory being proposed by this nonsense thread.

    Obama cannot override the law - no president can. The president may chose not to enforce or which part of the law to enforce, but he cannot override the law. Doh...

    that would take Congress to change that.... if republicans really want to force businesses to buy insurance for illegals, they could do that

    another reason Obama's public option was a better alternative to the conservatives individual mandate

    course universal healthcare would save businesses $3000 for every American hired (but republican will not supports this)

    Gruber was right! The left's voting block are idiots. Case in point - in 2007, the campaigning Obama plainly stated his intentions to wreck the coal industry, warning of drastically higher energy costs and severe consequence to those whose livelihoods depended on coal. Yet the Coal Miner's Union still supported him in the 2008 election! :eekeyes: It took several years of denial but they've finally awoken somewhat from their delusions.

    How can any union or black unemployed person support a Democrat, given their views on illegal immigration and what that implies to their employment concerns. But for the most part, the Democrats still have them where they want them. Gruber was definitely right!

    We will see more U.S. Citizens that are Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, etc... losing work to Illegal Aliens because now the wage for illegals is not only lower, but the benefit to hiring them over a U.S. Citizens is also $3,000 better!

    Wages will drop for mechanics, plumbers, welders, drivers, etc... as the employee pool just grew.

    this is just recycling the lie Cruz made up to attack the Rubio immigration reform bill in the Summer of 2013, only Cruz jacked the lie up to $5,000. It is illegal for an employer to ask the immigration status of a potential employee, so there is no way for this to be an incentive for anything, and Cruz knew it when he fabricated his lie.

    It is currently illegal for a potential employer to ask about a person’s immigration status when he or she applies for a job. An employer can only ask if an applicant is authorized to work in the United States. As the EEOC notes: “The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) makes it illegal for employers to discriminate with respect to hiring, firing, or recruitment or referral for a fee, based on an individual's citizenship or immigration status.” Documents concerning an employee’s immigration status can only be viewed after a person is hired.

    IRCA requires employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all employees hired after November 6, 1986, by completing the Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) Form, and reviewing documents showing the employee's identity and employment authorization.

    Because of potential claims of illegal discrimination, employment eligibility verification should (not must) be conducted after an offer to hire has been made. Applicants may be informed of these requirements in the pre-employment setting by adding the following statement on the employment application:

    "In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire."

    So while the employer shouldn't EXPLICITLY ask before he offers the job... he knows that if he hires someone who is LIKELY an illegal immigrant over someone who he's almost certain is a citizen... he knows that he will not have to provide that illegal immigrant healthcare.

    That means given the choice for a janitor or mechanic's job between the equally qualified white guy named Tom Jones who speaks perfect English and is almost certainly a citizen... and a Hispanic named Paco Juarez who barely speaks English and might not be a citizen... the employer would be a moron to hire Tom because if it turns out that Paco is an illegal, he can get the same amount of work and not have to pay him as much in benefits.
