http://www.ijreview.com/2015/02/248...g-couple-150k-refusing-bake-cake-gay-wedding/ This is an outrage! Oh because a company doesn't support gay marriage and reused to put icing on a cake that this gay couple wanted. The company doesn't have to give them service at all it's THEIR private company not the governments. And now this gay couple is suing the company and these damn Judges are charging the Bakery with $150,000. And in the the 1st amendment in the U.S. constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances And the 1st amendment came long before the 14th amendment. The company is entitled to believe what they want regardless if offends anyone. The Judge charging the Bakery for this is communism. I thought this is USA NOT China, North Korea, or the Soviet Union. How is this acceptable? commie Judges and politicians tearing this country apart. If gay people don't like it then they don't have to go their.
I think the article makes it logically clear how it is discrimination. The law is pretty straight forward. I agree with the ruling.
But from the story we read that this company readily agreed to make cakes for three occasions all of which were in violation of their previously stated religious principles - a divorce party cake, a cake for a baby out of wedlock, and a stem cell research succes story party. So this clearly was not a religious refusal. It was pure bigotry. You need to get past the cutesy title of the story. It had nothing to do with icing. They refused to bake the cake at all. They live in a society with laws, and they most obey the laws. They don't get to violate the law just because they don't feel like following it. And you do not wish to see lawbreakers get punished? Or just lawbreakers who share your particular prejudices? This is true. They can believe anything they want. They must also obey the law. Why is that concept so hard? You mean, by enforcing the law? Seriously? And that makes criminal behavior OK, right? I think, though, that this is an object lesson. The purpose is to show the public and other businesses that the law must be obeyed. If you don't like the law, use the political process to get it changed. An amendment to the US Constitution denying equal rights for groups you dislike ought to do it. Get busy. - - - Updated - - - Why? So long as you obey the law, you can be as opposed as you like. Personally, I can name a long list of speed limits I dislike. Should I get to pick and choose which ones I get to ignore?
I have to rephrase my previous statement. All businesses that are opposed to Gay Marriage should be summarily closed, and their owners imprisoned for life.
Don't you think those people should also be tortured? Maybe disfigured, or branded? LIfe imprisonment doesn't seem enough somehow.
The whole country is going gay. The military is going gay, bakeries are going gay, the dog down the street went gay. What's next ? LGBT cross walks ? Street corners in West Hollywood come out of the closet and go gay http://laist.com/2012/09/03/west_hollywoods_permanent_rainbow_crosswalks.php San Francisco's Castro District to get gay pride rainbow crosswalks http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...castro-rainbow-crosswalks-20140314-story.html
You may have a point... They should forfeit all their possessions to gays, be imprisoned for life with rainbow branded on their ass cheeks.
I used to be pretty much neutral when it came to gay rights. But people like you and all gay activists with an attitude for that matter, are making people bitter.
And they should be whipped, and paraded around naked in the streets, and forced to clean the sidewalks with toothbrushes.
Crap! Why didn't I think of that. Now you're thinking like an authoritarian leftist! Is also injecting any children they have with a gay elixir a decent addition to the plan?
