Yup... by the time the attack kicks off, Mosul will be a deathtrap. There will be IED's, deliberate ambushes, fortified positions, prepared secondary positions, obstacles funneling troops into kill zones.... It's going to be brutal. Seeing as how 12,000 Iraqis ran from 800 ISIS when Mosul was lost, I'd say the Iraqi's are royally screwed. Way to go Obama. It's almost as if he wants ISIS to be victorious.
Who? ISIS? They are going to be dug in like ticks. They will have their choice of ground, and will have all the time in the world to fortify it. Best bet would be to level the city first and pick through the rubble.
Just this morning sounds like they are backing away from this, saying it would take too long to train the Iraqi's. And now they have gone on social media to ask for suggestions. What's there next strategy, Hands up don't shoot? At least they have had some practice at it.

Hands up all those who honestly think that Daesh forces who have been surrounded by US backed forces in Mosul for months don't know they are going to be attacked? If your hand is up you are an idiot. These guys have eyes. They can see preparations being made. They almost certainly have information from locals on what is going on. Any fighters still in Mosul have been digging in & booby trapping for months. This isn't an attack being launched by the best army in the world, so speed, surprise & overwhelming firepower aren't on the cards as they are when the US invades stuff. This is being done by a mish mash of fighters with widely varied levels of training, motivation & firepower. They couldn't surprise Helen Keller. This operation was always going to be slow & deliberate.
Logic! But don't worry it will be lost on our friends who believe that not saying anything about any plans at all is a better strategy, especially when you're beholden to the tax payers. ISIS has known about Mosul. They WANT this fight because it justifies their nihilistic and apocalyptic vision, that they would die martyrs defending their caliphate or win a resounding battle there.
If Obama wanted to destroy America he would have continued the Bush policies. You do remember the state of America when Bush left office. Now compare the economy today with what Bushy left.
