Made it legal, JUST pointing out the Founders DIDN'T think it violated the US Constitution, the PREMISE I destroyed. Is slavery legal today or outlawed?

THAT'S NOT VAGARIES OF LIFE. It's right wing BS. Look to HISTORY and you can even look at recent history of "less regulation" Texas and their oil refinery explosion for an example

Methinks you don't really understand what 'Liberty' is, and how it is granted to us by government. (hint: 'anarchy' is something different)

The Supreme Court is made up of political ideologues, appointed by a political ideologue and confirmed by more political ideologues. Need I say more?

While the Congress has the power to tax, they have no enumerated power to create and operate a health insurance system. Such actions are reserved to the States so that America is a macrocosmic laboratory of social services to be compared one State’s with the other State’s and thereby the best of the lot adopted by the rational States in the nation and provide thereby an opportunity for the people to vote with their feet and move from the States that do not adjust to the best governing policies.

Except when they hand down decisions you agree with.
Are you complaining about Obamacare or Medicaid? Cause Obamacare isn't a national health insurance. Medicaid kind of is but the beneficiaries don't pay premiums.
Sounds like an interpretation of a political ideologue.

“In the end more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free.”
    Edward Gibbon (1737-1794)

“A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away.”
    Barry Goldwater

“Taxation of earnings from labor is on a par with forced labor. Seizing the results of someone's labor is equivalent to seizing hours from him and directing him to carry on various activities.”
    Robert Nozick, Harvard philosopher

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”
    William Pitt, 18 Nov 1783

I love how 9 of the most eminent legal scholars that have ever existed are "political ideologues" while some guy posting on a message board is an absolutely fair and evenhanded arbitrar of the document that is the basis of our entire system of law, oh, and he's smarter than the scholars too.

Government has no wealth. So, whenever government promises you something for free, they must first confiscate that something from someone else. It is THEIR freedom that is lost for YOUR "free" healthcare.

You seem to have misread. I wasn't talking about Athenians. Barry Goldwater, some Harvard blowhard or William Pitt. I was referring to me. How does Obamacare take away freedom from ME?

I am not surprised you can't apply learned philosophy to a progressive ideology since it is completely counter to such things. I know you cannot see the link.

I can't speak for Jack but I lost all respect for the SCOTUS over the ACA. Obama told us so many lies...and then claimed how many times, "its not a tax"...until that was the only way he could get the court to go along. The whole thing was a twisting and bending of words and of the constitution and its intent. If the SCOTUS can be pressured to bend the law in one instance I fear for the future. My only hope is that I will be dead before the country I have fought and bled for dies.

"Our featured recipe today, Newt, is a delicious word salad, It's just full of high sounding metaphors, crispy platitudes and those all important down home homilies and half truths, Best of all it's completely guiltless as it's absolutely devoid of any intellectual substance whatsoever."

Imagined security provided by bureaucrats does not require intellect but only fear as a motivation.

Spoken like a true government-dependent lefty.

How dare Republicans wish to make their own choices!

Sadder still... that you think there is an "extreme" to liberty.

No! Except when they hand down decisions that honestly and rationally agree with the the Constitution.

I’m saying that the Constitution gives no power of authority to the federal government to do anything that’s not authorized by and enumerated in the Constitution as a power of the federal government. That includes all federal social programs, wealth redistribution, corporate and social welfare or public education or the authority to prohibit any drug or substance or product without a constitutional amendment.

It’s an honest, rational and logical interpretation of the Constitution. It’s called “strict construction.”

If the Constitution doesn’t mean what it says, then it has no value and the nation’s government is a fake and a scam.

    Good point.

If only they knew what "freedom" means. I remember Newt describing "freedom" as being able to drive a car that gets 9 mpg - "isn't that what freedom is all about?" The 400,000 guys who were killed in WWII probably do not consider 9 mpg as the type of "freedom" most died for, but Republicans do.

Lots of children, most of them died before age 5, and then most people were very lucky to live to be 50.
