In South Ossetia, there were 2 or 3 referendum on joining Russia. 100% of Ossetians said "Yes." Russia not take part in its. So Long. I do not know why, but probably from the point of view of the geopolitical issues that for Russia would be beneficial to South Ossetia was formally an independent state.
But it makes sense. For Example. Russia can supply sophisticated weapons in South Ossetia. And South Ossetia can put these weapons to the rebels, for example, in Alaska. Or Ferguson. Formally Russia can not be blamed. Do you like my idea?

    .

Russia moved into predominently Russian South Ossetia only after the then
Pres. of Georgia, Saakashvili started murdering Russians at NATO's behest

    Oddly enough - Now -
The failed US puppet Saakashvili is hiding out somewhere in the Ukraine
& is wanted in Georgia for numerous Crimes - Ukraine refuses to Extadite

    http://rt.com/news/233179-ukraine-georgia-saakashvili-extradition/

By the way - You can kiss South Ossetia goodbye like you can the Crimea

The STUPID SWINE running the show in Washington don't seem to have
any Idea or appreciation as to the Risks they are taking. - I don't think they
even care so long as they are causing
    Problems for Russia

Keep causing trouble in the Ukraine and Russia WILL eventually Invade
then you can kiss ALL of the Ukraine goodbye - & any NATO responce
will very quickly go NUCLEAR - Then we can all kiss our A$$ Goodbye
    .
May gently I remind any American Exceptionalist Morons - Russia is NOT
................................................................ just another Iraq, Libya, Syria etc

    ..

saddam had 100% of votes in iraq.
i remember that an iraqi said that half of the country loved saddam and the other half didn't like him.
perhaps in russia it's so too.
i don't believe in the vast popular support of putin.
but don't say that i think that putin is like saddam, there are differences, saddam didn't like to appear naked...
of course there are differences in force.
but also in force i think there are one think equal: saddam and his supporters considered thenselves more powerfull than they really were, the same happens in russia, i suppose.
it's easy to make war when the others are trying to prevent war, but when the others go to war, things modify...

at last but not at least, russia is the biggest country in area of the world, and despite the bad administration of its area (the maffias dominate) they want more and more.
    what a shame.

Don't say that in front of the Russians.

They might take it seriously and try to oblige you.

In Syria Kerry didn't want Assad to run because according to the CIA report, about seventy five percent of the people would vote for him, so he refused to recognize the election because fighting was still going on. At the same time in Ukraine, all the candidates that would have represented the people in the East and South, were threatened so they couldn't run. That vote Kerry recognized, even though fighting was still going on.

Nothing like democracy Washington style, where no one is recognized unless it's the person we want.

Russia hasn't fully developed all its potential, so why would they want more land? It's the Europeans who want and need the Russian lands, never the other way around. That's what all the wars were about. And that's what this one is about also. What Russia has, Washington wants.

When the Russians needed land, they had those vast open spaces, sort of like the Americans did. But if the Europeans needed land, they had no where to go except Russia...and they were always stopped. So to say the Russians want more land is nothing but made up tales coming from the fantasy writers of London and Washington.

What upsets Putin are the Russians who are stuck in others countries because of the change in borders under the Soviet Union. They are being persecuted so they would get up and leave, even though it was always their homeland...as it was in Ukraine. It pains him that their pensions are not up to par with the Russian ones, so he tries to compensate them economically since they were part of the Soviet Union, but he can't compensate their wages. It's because of all these displaced Russians that he said the break up of the Soviet Union was the greatest tragedy of the last century.

As for the mafias, they dominated under Yeltsin, that's why Washington loved him. As long as someone is bad for Russia, then America's buddy, buddy. Russia was a kleptocracy then, but Putin straightened it out, so Washington hates him. Putin's getting after the graft now, because it's not good for the economy

The neo cons who control Washington want a war so Russia can break up and they can steal its wealth... and Putin knows it. According to documents from WikiLeaks and other sources, they want Russia to fight a war on three fronts, that's why Russia is holding the largest war games it ever held throughout Russia.

As for the Russian people supporting Putin; before Washington began attacking Putin and trying to destroy Russia's economy, his support was about 74% percent. But with the evil and malice coming out of Washington towards Russia, it is now 88%. The whole country is behind Putin, and they're appalled at the lies and propaganda about Vladimir Putin. Even the Russians who were leaning towards the EU and Washington before, now hate their guts.

But they're total idiots in Washington. The Russians lost twenty seven million people fighting Nazi Germany, so wouldn't they fight the evil that's now coming out of Washington? But then again, maybe they can't see themselves the way the world sees them.

Most Democrats can't admit that they exist within a specific dialectic and that democracy doesn't necessarily lead to what they want, most Republicans just don't care that much about foreigners.

One fairly good book on the explosion of the Russian Mafiya's is Claire Sterling's "Thieves World." I haven't read the book for a very long time, but the sense I still have of it was that following the fall of communism and the election of the US sock puppet Yeltsin, the various mafia clans were used to drain wealth out of Russia.
