http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015...acking-suspect-ends-with-crash-in-northridge/ This video shows an African American carjacking suspect slowly exiting an alleged stolen vehicle and then walking backwards toward white LAPD officers and complying with their instructions. Unlike many recent encounters between white police officers and African American citizens, this one did not end up with the citizen being shot by the police. We've been told in recent months that African Americans are shot by white cops because the white cops are racist. We've been told 'black lives matter' as if we would somehow believe otherwise. He have seen celebrities wearing tshirts on television proclaiming 'hands up don't shoot!' My opinion on this matter is that this black carjacking suspect was not shot by white police officers because in compliance with their instructions, he did not represent a threat to their personal safety and therefore they had no reason to shoot him. The converse of that argument is, of course, that those African Americans who are shot by white police officers are usually shot because they do represent a threat to the officers' personal safety. In every single case that we've seen the 'hands up' crowd protesting, the black citizen shot by police did not comply with officers' instructions. OK, that was my dispassionate summary. Perhaps your opinion differs. What say you?
So I guess this isn't news? You'd think the African American community would be rejoicing... Al Sharpton should be passing out cigars to these officers. Nobody cares because the reality is there are THOUSANDS of police encounters every day with people of all races and all walks of life and not a single one ends with national news headlines... let alone a heated word.
Basing an entire group on the actions of an individual, or basing an entire condition on an isolated incident, is stupid. There is a LOT of this 'stupid' going around lately, by people on either side. That's my opinion.
I tend to agree with you. However, perhaps you should be pointing this statement at the those people of #Ferguson fame willing to burn down the town and lynch Darren Wilson because of a lie. Then again also include Eric Holder's and his DOJ investigation that painted the Ferguson PD and all Police Departments nationwide as racists.
