    It's good to see this guy being held accountable by the internets for his social media postings, If this had been a white conservative type taking over Bill O'Reilly's program, these comments would have prevented him from getting the job, but obviously this situation is different.

    The left found out a long time ago that using comedians to push their political agenda is useful because whenever things backfire, they can always fall back on "it's a joke! Relax!" Jon Stewart got away with a few doozies over this long tenure at the Daily Show, but I don't recall there being controversy surrounding him when he took over for Craig Kilborn. I would think some in his base won't be too happy about his sexist and anti-semitic jokes, but then again, he's a non-white left-winger and may get a pass on whatever he says and does.

    His mother is jewish I believe, and for one I am a person who thinks people need to learn how to laugh at themselves because funny stereotypes are not just made up, they do have some truth behind them.

    But I do wonder, will he be taking the same kind of pot shots against the religion of Islam, or is that still unacceptable?

    My opinion on whether or not they are offensive is completely irrelevant to the point I am making in the OP.

    Another cannibalized "progressive" whose own PC orthodoxy comes back to bite him in the bottom.

    The "progressive" PC police are a menace and if they had their way, comedy would be as bland and unfunny as a Soviet radio broadcast.

    He has Jewish heritage.. The tweets they're looking at are also like 3 years old.. And it's his style of comedy.

    I'm honestly surprised that this is getting any attention. Usually when a non-white left-winger says something that would get a white conservative type in trouble, the left doesn't even acknowledge it.

    Well he won't lose his new gig over it. Comedy Central is standing behind him.

    But frankly, I just don't get this choice. He's not really that funny. I first heard about this guy months ago on NPR. They did a long piece on him.And he doesn't seem to have the skill set to handle this particular host position. He's a foreigner who now is expected to get the nuances of American politics. I guess he can read lines that writers put in his mouth, but how is he going to do an extemporaneous interview with political figures like Stewart did? His first question is always going to be, "Who are you?"

    I predict he'll fall flat on his face, but I'm not sure it will even matter.

    A question that needs to be asked, I feel: Is this guy an Affirmative Action-type choice? Were better comedians passed up to get a minority to replace Jon Stewart?

    Forget if this guy's tweets are called politically incorrect or insensitive or not. He's just not very funny at all. At All! He seems remarkably trite and hackneyed.

    The Daily Show is dead without Jon Stewart. He WAS the Daily Show. It won't work with anyone else, let alone this clown.

    I don't think it really needs to be asked since the answer is so headlights and sirens obvious. Like Obama, he was chosen because of who he is, not what he can do. That's why I don't think it matters if he fails in this position or not. He'll still get the accolades.

    Kind of unfortunate for the Daily Show to go out like that. Better it were canceled with Jon's departure to be replaced by something else created by someone else.

    It's too bad that Colbert is taking over for Letterman. Stewart would have been a much better replacement.
