There's film of the players blind siding the ref for no reason and you can tell it's intentional. And what is the excuse the players came up with? The coach made them do it and the ref was a racist. A racist. Yes, they really said that. I'd love to hear what the ref allegedly called these boys and how that justifies hitting him from behind - twice.

Interesting that they aren't even saying he's the official who made the alleged remarks. Just "a game official".
Regardless it's not justification for their cowardly act

This was pretty awful and there's no justification. On the news last night they said that the assistant coach suggested something to the players. They should all be out the rest of the season at least and let the cops decide on charges.

WTF are we breeding these days. Gesus...I played HS & college sports and have faced my fair share of bad ref's, but my coaches pulled me off the court more than once for even scouling at a ref. It's what's called disipline, something these punks wouldn't have a clue about. Future thugs is my take.

Society has taught us that the defense for everything savages due is "racism" and any woman that murders her husband was "abused". Get out of jail free by and for liberals.

Even if he called them the N word doesn't justify a physical assault.

Where were they trained to be violent? Did the coach tell the players to take out the ref?

These "kids" have no credibility. They are doing everything possible to pass the blame elsewhere. "The ref used racial slurs?" "The coach suggested that the ref needed to be taught a lesson?" Meanwhile, the longer nothing happens in criminal court, the more likely they are going to get away with it. Their actions deserve more than school punishment. They could have done major permanent damage to this ref. I hope these 2 never see another down of football in their lives and are tried as adults.

My boss and I were just talking about this. Now my boss pretty much measures every word he says because of the environment we work in so all he said was when you're caught on tape doing something wrong and there's absolutely no defense for it, cry racism.

Your boss doesn't measure his words, unless the work he's doing is for David Duke.

Takes a whole lotta courage to hit someone from behind... a real solid citizen I'd say.

I say expel both boys from the school and fire the coach. Then the ref should sue, sue, sue. Start with the boy's parents, the coach, and the school. The ref could have been paralyzed for life, or even killed. Absolutely no excuse for what the players did to that man. You need to learn early there are consequences for your actions -- bad actions result in bad consequences.

In the state of Ohio you have to sign a disclaimer as a referee, I think everyone involved in sports at any level should.

Any race can cry racism unless you believe otherwise. I have no idea what color the players were. None.

Hey, check this out and there was not one word mentioned about racism when it was all over.

Watch the video again. He didn't wrap his arms around the ref. That wasn't a tackle and pads aren't padded on the outside. When both parties are not participating in the game, it becomes assault. Who's next? Cheerleaders?

Disclaimers and waivers mean little to nothing in a court of law.
