I assume your answers will be very localized. A meaty lobster soup is fantastic and can't be topped by anything. And it can be adjusted for season/how you're feeling - you can make it very rich by adding more butter, or make it lighter and healthier by just using less butter - it's still damned good either way. Best pie - I'd say blueberry pie, but blueberry pie is very rich and I'd be down for the count if I ate a whole slice in one sitting. So yeah, I do say blueberry pie, just with the note that its very rich and you can't eat much of it at once. I'd give an honorable mention to a very well done clam chowder - it's unbelievably good when done right. People usually go wrong by getting tiny bits of clams and not enough. You want a healthy amount of meat, and you want it to be in large chunks. And none of that overpowering herb flavoring added - a good clam chowder is simple. Clams, taters, milk, claim juice, water - the clam is the real flavoring. Should be obvious enough, but canned food companies like Progressive and Campbell's just don't get it, and they put the "New England Style" label on it - don't believe the lies! The best commercial version I've seen is actually the one offered by Erbert's and Gerbert's.
Lobster has no taste so if you put it in anything, it will taste like the same thing without the lobster. The problem I find with most clam chowder isn't the lack of clams, but the potatoes are way too big.
You must be eating deep frozen lobster from the West Coast. Fresh Maine lobster has an incomparable taste.
Strange because the girl I went to college with whose father was a Maine Lobsterman must have been shipping us west coast lobsters as they had no taste either. If they tasted like something, people wouldn't dip it in butter.
If one has a pair of testicles, one would know that the best soup is chili. A stew of some sort is also an acceptable answer. As far as pie is concerned, peach cobbler. You're a horrible person if you disagree.
I considered chili but that is more of a stew than a soup. As for peach cobbler, it is okay, but rather one note as far as pies go.
Soup is not food, unless you're impoverished and have more water than food to mix together, or you have a man-gina. Simple fact, don't hate the messenger. . You're sorely mistaken friend. There is nothing more sublime than a good crusty dough, lots of sugar, and peaches. I suspect that this is the mana spoken of in the Holy Book. "Yea, let those who've not eaten peach cobbler, eat some other pie like tripe, then proclaim that that this is the best pie". You can't argue with scripture.
The liquid keeps people hydrated. There is a difference between being a messenger and being a court jester. . So the only difference you have described between a peach pie and an apple pie is one has peaches and one has apples. In fact, if you are so into that crust, you should prefer pie over cobbler because it has more crust. I personally prefer plums, but that is more of a tart fruit as opposed to a pie fruit.
Speaking of tart I have oh so fond memories of rhubarb strawberry ----home made of course Also love cheesecake, but feel it is not really a pie Soupwise... Hot and sour, indian dal, or a borscht But of course it is not the name if the soup, but the cook of the soup which is the critical factor
I actually have a little 'soup' cooking in the crock pot as we speak. It consist of Potatoes, radishes, hominy, stewed tomatoes, carrots, celery, and pork loin. Flavored with beef stock, salt and pepper. Now that is a soup my friends
Oh come on now, that's just silly. That's like saying if steak (or any meat) was good no one would smoke it, or marinate it, etc.
Any soup or pie that is NOT store bought. Favorite soup sorta stuff would be chili and bouillabaisse, favorite pie is a tart lemon meringue or strawberry rhubarb, Well, may be key lime.
Well, uh... I'm pretty sure most people would disagree with you there. - - - Updated - - - Oooh, key lime pie with one of those sweet crusts that look like brown sugar (and vaguely taste like it) - yum!
