Is it anti-Jewish to note the disproportionate number of Jews in the media ?

2.2% of Americans are Jewish - that's it. Yet, when you look at the names and faces of a large chunk of those in the media, a disproportionately high percentage of them are Jewish. Now, for this to be dismissed as anti-Jewish is nonsense. It's not anti-anything.

It's just asking if it's wrong to assume that there may be a large bias in our media and how we get information based on the culture and beliefs of those in power. Look at the names of the president/CEO/Chairman/Vice Chairman of any of the major news organizations, or the major newspaper, or companies like Disney, Viacom, or Time Warner and you will fine 1 or more of them will be Jewish.

My end question is this: At what point as we as Americans willing to admit that there may be a bias because of the fact such a high percentage of Jewish Americans are in powerful positions in our media ? If instead of Jewish, if you had Muslims representing the positions given they are only around 2% of Americans, would you guys feel as calm and apathetic ?

The short answer is yes.

While we are on this topic... the disproportionate chunk of Nobel prize winners are Jewish (like more than 20% while Jews are like 0.2% of the world's population). The disproportionate number of Ivy League graduates are jewish (like 10%), the disproportionate number of politicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, business leaders are Jewish, the disproportionate number of extremely successful people in just about any field of human activity (with the exception of sport) are jewish.

Perhaps it's something in Matzo, maybe you should try it some day and see if you smarten up.... Or perhaps, it's their intelligence, drive, open-mindedness, obsession with education, work ethics, family values... Yes the short answer is likely yes. An interesting book is History of the Jews by Brit historian Paul Johnson. Sammy Davis Jr. converted to Judaism after reading it while in the hospital.

Jews in the 19th century pioneered in building communications-related business ventures. Part of it was Jewish involvement in finance, where exchange of information was always critical. Paul Reuter (1816-1899) founder of the Reuters news agency, is an example. He was a German-born Jew.

Jews are also disproportionately represented among Nobel prize winners, as another poster noted (IIRC there are only one or two Muslim Nobel prize winners, and none for science). Jews are also disproportionately represented among great violinists, as are Asian females.

 

If they come by their businesses honestly, what do you care? If they come by their business unlawfully, then deal with their lawlessness, what do you care what their ethnicity is? Seems like every hotel I go to is run by the Patels. Do I care as long as the room is clean and the rates are fair?

What types of things do Jews promote? The media certainly isn't on the side of Israel when it comes to the conflict there. How exactly are they using this power? Bias where?

And you might consider that jews are disproportionately represented in many areas and many fields.

 

It's not anti-Semitic to simply talk about how many Jews are in the media. If you start implying conspiracies or making attacks or insinuations that you can't prove, then that probably is anti-Semitic.

That is because Jews, unlike Muslims, value intelligence, critical thinking, knowledge and discovering new things in general. Muslims just want to sit around and (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about women and infidels.

 

The problem I see is that the majority of Jews are not only left-wing, but far left wing. Jews are not only the originators of Marxism, but are still, to their day, the most prominent torch bearers for the ideology. From Bernadine Dohrn Ornstein (why is her last name always left out?) to Bernie Sanders, Marxist Jews carry on the banner for the far left. Having a disproportionate amount of power and influence in society — in the media, Hollywood, and Academia — has been one of the major reasons why the left has drifted leftward over the last 6 to 7 centuries.

 

They may not be all working together, but they, as an overall group, have a similar allegiance to the same political and societal goals, and work aggressively towards those ends.

Jews have contributed more to modern society per capita than any other ethnic group. God knows the Muslims and Arabs have contributed crap. Its a shame because they used to be good until Islam turned completely bat(*)(*)(*)(*) insane which is what we have today.

 

When you are in love, the whole world is Jewish. So, it is good there are plenty of people of the Jewish Faith in the Media. Also, there are a significant amount of Jewish Directors in Hollywood.
