And the math makes Carson look foolish when you consider how much grain it would have taken to feed 20,000-100,000 men each and every day for 30 years. By the time they were finished there would have been no grain left to store.

So nothing that Carson claims makes any sense. He might know how to slice and dice a brain but he knows squat about reality.

And just think of the advanced planning it took to build the pyramids in advance of storing all that grain. Not to mention the technology they had to develop to militarize the grain so t could be stored in the tiny burial chambers.

I think even we liberals would be heartened ( or maybe just less worried about the future of America ) if the Republicans could actually find a first tier candidate. But I think it is probably to late for someone new to get into the Republican race.

Well I think Carson just said on CNN that America has a hundred trillion dollar deficit.

There were no mummified bodies in the Great Pyramids.

No it was a lie, they had in fact purchased to million solar homes and had plenty of cash flow.

That is true. Hillary will chew him up and spit him out. If the GOP wants to win this one, it isn't going to be with Carson. I imagine they are going for those two black, undecided voters out there.

Try to keep up. They had to get Terry McAuliffe to personally guarantee the loan they took out to buy their house.

It is truly Sad that the GOP is fielding two totally unqualified candidates and expect either one to debate HillBill at some point. We might as well just hand over the White House keys and accept the inevitable. Carsons little speech made it abundantly clear he is not very bright.

I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with people excusing it when candidates say incredibly ignorant things (and it's not just a tongue tangle).

You don't see me get involved in threads when conservatives do something similar to Obama's "57 states" trip-up -- because I recognize candidates are human, and sometimes the words get tangled during the journey from the brain to the mouth.

What I can't stand is when a candidate says something ignorant, then stands by it, and partisans try to excuse it.

In this very thread, for instance, I said Hillary deserved ridicule for claiming she was "flat broke" when she left the White House. It wasn't a lie -- they were deep in debt -- but it was clear they weren't going to stay that way for long. So it was a silly thing to say.

I don't know about other posters, but I've never said this is "the best you've got" or even that it was particularly important.

But it's about the fifth or sixth incredibly ignorant thing that Carson has said recently. It's part of a pattern. The guy may be a brain surgeon, but he's also a loony tune who is in no way qualified to be president.

How is that relevant? Why can't someone be worried (or not) about Clinton's prospects, and still think Carson's statement is ignorant, and yet another example of why he isn't qualified to be president?

Sure. If the GOP is sane, they'll nominate Rubio -- he's the best guy they have at the moment, with Jeb imploding. Kasich would be good, too, but he doesn't seem to have a chance right now.

So if I was being partisan ... why would I be attacking Carson? Wouldn't I be wanting him to get the nomination, so that the Democratic nominee could win in a landslide?

Fact is, I post what I think about each candidate. My underlying motivation, such as it is, is that I dislike living in a political world where clowns like Trump, opportunistic loudmouths like Cruz and transparently out-of-their-depth candidates like Carson are treated seriously by one of our two major political parties. I would much rather have a GOP that put forth serious candidates, with serious ideas about the challenges facing America. That way, regardless of who wins the election, the country doesn't lose.

So I do my best to help them weed out the loonies and extremists. Because I'd rather help Rubio win than risk Trump doing so.

Here is Politifact's record on Carson statements:
    http://www.politifact.com/personalities/ben-carson/statements/

Carson just keeps saying stupid things. My personal favorite is this one:
    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...rson-says-mahmoud-abbas-ali-khamenei-vladimi/

Mahmoud Abbas, Ali Khamenei, Vladimir Putin knew each other in 1968 Moscow!

Except there is basically no evidence for this, other than some conspiracy theories and passing bits of Russian propaganda. And it doesn't even make sense, given the politics of the time and the ages of the men involved.

It's yet another example of Carson uncritically embracing a conspiracy theory. And yet another example of why he's unfit to be president.

    Oh, come on.

Carson words about the pyramids were told years years ago.

We better ask him what he thing about the pyramids today.

I bet that most people used to say something long ago and later they changed their mind, their point of view,

But, about making bathrooms for transgender, that... that is being INCLUSIVE.

    I applaud that idea.

To identify men, women, and transgender.

Our society must be INCLUSIVE, and we can't catalogue a man as "woman" after her made cosmetic surgery to appear as a female. That is a no no.

'The right thing is to catalogue this man as transgender and be identified as such by the rest of society. People will understand and will get use to the idea that transgender have the right to have their own bathrooms where no one will bother them.

That they must be identified as transgender is a must, because this way FRAUD CAN BE AVOIDED.

For example, being the transgender identify as such in his/her ID, if a man falls in love with "him" that will be with complete understanding that he (the man) agrees that the partner is not a woman but a transgender. If he wants to get married with him, he understands that they must adapt children to add members to their family.

But, if a transgender is identified as a woman and never tells about it, a man gets married with the transgender and finds out that the assumed woman was in reality a man who believes he is a woman, then the victim must sue the transgender because fraud.

Lets wait for Carson to update his version about the pyramids. He might still thinking the same as he thought years ago or, probably he has changed his mind, something that he is allowed to do.

That's the point ... we did. He reaffirmed his belief that the pyramids were built to hold grain.

He actually said $211 trillion -- but he's referring to unfunded mandates.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...11-trillion-beyond-the-reported-federal-debt/

It's a silly claim, but popular with conservatives.

The $211 trillion isn't committed spending -- it's just a projection of what current programs might cost BETWEEN NOW AND THE END OF TIME, if current trends continue.

No, seriously. The timeline for that number is "from now to infinity".

It's legitimate to talk about the long-term cost trends for various programs. But it's also important to tell people the timeframe you're talking about. $211 trillion sounds scary -- until you realize the timeframe is absurd.

There's something wrong with him.. He claims that in his childhood he was very violent, but everyone remembers him as a shy, skinny kid with pocket protectors.

This rage over the pyramids comment, which he made in 2002 or something, is really fascinating. The left thinks it plays into Carson's weakness as a candidate but the right think it plays into his strengths, at least when he's attacked for it.

Well, it's totally possible to present one face to the world, and be another person in the privacy of your home or whatever.

And memory can be faulty, even if the essence of the story is true.

That said, I find it a little hard to believe that he smashed a kid in the face with a lock, and no one remembers it. Even if there were no official school record of the incident, the other kids would know about it.

But for now, Carson gets the benefit of the doubt.

Face plams their is a lot of evidence to prove otherwise as an ancient astronaut theorist, I would say, he's a moron alright. Their are engineers who have said the pyramids of Giza is similar to Coral Castle were it can amidst sound waves like a musical theatre of short but they never said anything about the corn thing odd.

Uh oh the long knives are coming out for a once inspirational black man because he is a republican. I wonder what kind of evil bile you would spew about George Washington Carver if he were a republican today.

He claims that he was touched by his faith... I think he painting a picture of himself ... Look at the title of his book .."My Gifted Hands".

    I think he's creepy.

    - - - Updated - - -

It has nothing to do with Carson being black or a Republican.. It has to do with him being creepy.
