What are atheists going to replace God with?

Without getting into a debate about communism, and ignoring that you have laughed off secular humanism without any explanation, citing 2 alternative beliefs that have been adhered to by tens of millions of people completely contradicts everything you have said in your post up to this point.

This is entirely subjective. Tens of millions of people have found just the two alternative ideas you have cited to be superior. The fact that you haven't is more or less irrelevant to me.

Very few in my society do. They were heavily indoctrinated as children.

I see it just the opposite. It's the worship of the group, the tribe, the collective all under the protectful umbrella of a government that approves of coalesced minds. Same as religion.

Depends on ones definition of selfish I suppose. Not permitting others to forcefully subjugate yourself to thier needs and desires is the epitome of civilization IMO. We've been tribes and collectives ruled by elite forever. Time to try something different as neither has fared well. It's time for man to be free of men.

 

Atheism isn't exactly a belief in nothing so much as a lack of belief in gods. So everything else can vary. Really the only part of religion that's difficult to replace is the sort of community it provides. A golf club membership doesn't tend to tie communities together as well as a shared religion. That said there's plenty of things you can replace religion with in terms of a meaning to life. People can focus on bringing comfort to others, competition in something they're good at, or advancing our understanding in one of the many areas of study available. They can create things, explore, or teach. There's actually a lot to life without making things up.

Worshipping anything is stupid. All should be approached with a reasonable level of skepticism and humility.

Thus your ignorance of atheism. Atheism is simply a belief that there is no God. Atheist have a moral foundation not set in theology.

That would be the biased view. America for example is 70% Christian which if far from a nihilistic society. As for materialistic, theists around the world have been bitten by that bug thus it is not unique to western civilization. Are you arguing that there is no materialism by theist in Lebanon?

Over a long enough timeline all political ideologies fail.

Once one comes to understand that harm is the boundery that separates an action from an immoral action then the need for a God to tell us right from wrong becomes unnecessary. Theology has a history of judging harmless action as immoral.

Many, thought not all, have replaced an invisible God with the visible state. Witness how they get all of their right and wrong from written words put forth by the political classes. How they believe that government is the provider of rights and the solution to all ills that befall a society.

Thats why whenever someone with a PHD says something they agree with they worship him. They of course ignore experts who dont agree with them, obviously.
