Seems some others were looking at a different way. Especially in SC.

Governor Jeb Bush - South Carolina is friendly to the Bush family with a network of strong support. Bush had a good showing tonight, but not enough to get him ahead of Cruz or Rubio on election day. Bush also got a boost from Rubio who said during the debate, "I thank God it was George W Bush in the White House on 9/11, not Al Gore."

Donald Trump - Coming off his New Hampshire primary win, businessman Donald Trump couldn't stand the heat on the South Carolina stage. He came off as unhinged, angry and liberal. There were three major moments from him that stood out.....snip~

That bit about Planned Parenthood will hurt Trump more than he knows.

I found it funny when the media thought Bush bringing his mom on the campaign trail would somehow be a boost. The optics of going out with your mom after already being branded as weak are horrible. It falls right into Trump's lap. Trump had a great quote last night when he said "she should be running".

No, I didn't see her there, and I'd rather stay on topic.

If it was possible for a self-absorbed narcissist to feel embarrassment, Trump would be embarrassed.

He made a fool of himself.

I didn't see you in on the Demo debate thread to give us your uhm.....same kind of attention. So I figured I would make it simple for you and include both. That way it would be on topic.

Trump always comes off a bit angry, thats part of his shtick.

And I will say for most any other candidate, it would have been a negative.

But he also can stand the heat, both from other candidates, from moderators, and from a less than friendly crowd.

Yeah in the debate I couldn't hear Trump over the crowd when he said that-but I rewatched the highlights and heard it.
Trumps little quips are daggers, I can imagine how Hillary would fare against them.

No doubt he's racing over there to be "consistent". :roflol:

Sorry. This thread is about the GOP debate.

You can probably find the topic that interests you elsewhere - or you can always initiate one.

Okay show us all those lies from each one. So you can specify those lies to all. Just what you think were the lies. No help from the Interdweebs or Google.

A lot of wasted time on Scalia’s passing, etc. It’s likely that the choice of a Supreme Court Justice will be stalled until the next POTUS is in office. In fact, Cruz has already promised to filibuster this.

The usual evasive and generalized answers thru out, esp. on Immigration, and they failed to answer the question posed to them directly. Trump repeated his ‘I’ll build a wall, etc.’ BUT this doesn’t guarantee that he won’t grant Illegals Amnesty.

Dr. C: He gave some good answers, esp. on “free” College. He was generally ignored by the Mods, as usual, and was not asked about Immigration at all, but he said to see his website on this issue. A fair performance, when included.

Bush: He gave a few good answers, but stuck w/ his usual, “successful Gov. experience” qualifies him for POTUS, etc. and for the most part, he acted like the bullied schoolboy. A fair performance.

Kasich: He gave some good answers, esp. on Dem support, but he was his usual mediocre self. He got more attention than usual, and a fairly good performance overall.

Rubio: He gave some good answers…I’m not sure why he thinks mentioning Nicki Haley on the Poverty issue will help him. He gave the best reply of the Debate, when he mentioned the Earned Income Credit for Parents. A fair performance overall…better than his last.

Cruz: His usual evasive self, he had a few good moments, but was mostly involved in petty arguments w/ Trump and Rubio. Not his best performance.

Trump: He had some good answers, but he was also mostly involved in petty arguments w/ the others. Not his best performance.

MODS: They were somewhat unorganized in their posing of questions, and they did a poor job of keeping the Candidates in line, and in keeping them from going over the time limits, etc. It seemed they were playing favorites, and spent more time w/ the top 3 or 4 Candidates. Too much petty arguing, and not enough discussing the issues at hand.

I agree, Kasich did well to stand clear of the fray, but it was of little help.

True, baiting, and playing favorites...not well-moderated overall.

:roflol: He's running as fast as he can. :clapping:....but the other GOPs are gaining. :roflol:

Obama's still all-time winner, and current Champ. (So, that puts HRC in second.)

Actually, the entertainment celebrity laying the truth on the dead ender nitwits was a highlight of the show!

    TRANSCRIPT HIGHLIGHTS

    Enjoy!

DICKERSON TO TRUMP: ... On Monday, George W. Bush will campaign in South Carolina for his brother. As you’ve said tonight, and you’ve often said, the Iraq war and your opposition to it was a sign of your good judgment.

In 2008, in an interview with Wolf Blitzer, talking about President George W. Bush’s conduct of the war, you said you were surprised that Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi didn’t try to impeach him.

You said, quote: “Which, personally, I think would have been a wonderful thing.” When you were asked what you meant by that and you said: “For the war, for the war, he lied, he got us into the war with lies.”

TRUMP: Obviously, the war in Iraq was a big, fat mistake. All right? Now, you can take it any way you want, and it took — it took Jeb Bush, if you remember at the beginning of his announcement, when he announced for president, it took him five days.

He went back, it was a mistake, it wasn’t a mistake. It took him five days before his people told him what to say, and he ultimately said, “It was a mistake.” The war in Iraq, we spent $2 trillion, thousands of lives, we don’t even have it. Iran has taken over Iraq, with the second-largest oil reserves in the world.

    Obviously, it was a mistake.

TRUMP: George Bush made a mistake. We can make mistakes. But that one was a beauty. We should have never been in Iraq. We have destabilized the Middle East.

TRUMP: You do whatever you want. You call it whatever you want. I want to tell you. They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction, there were none. And they knew there were none. There were no weapons of mass destruction.

TRUMP: The World Trade Center came down during your brother’s reign, remember that.

    That’s not keeping us safe.

TRUMP: How did he keep us safe when the World Trade Center — the World — excuse me. I lost hundreds of friends. The World Trade Center came down during the reign of George Bush. He kept us safe? That is not safe. That is not safe, Marco. That is not safe.

    ...
RUBIO: Well, first of all, I don’t know how he knows what I said on Univision, because he doesn’t speak Spanish. And second of all, the other point that I would make...

    CRUZ: (SPEAKING SPANISH).

RUBIO: Look, this is a disturbing pattern now, because for a number of weeks now, Ted Cruz has just been telling lies. He lied about Ben Carson in Iowa.

He lies about Planned Parenthood. He lies about marriage. He’s lying about all sorts of things. And now he makes things up.

CRUZ: That is absolutely false. What he said is knowingly false. ...

TRUMP: Two days ago he said he would take his pants off and moon everybody, and that’s fine.

TRUMP: ... You did say it, you did say it. ...

TRUMP TO CRUZ: You probably are worse than Jeb Bush. You are single biggest liar. This guy’s lied — let me just tell you, this guy lied about Ben Carson when he took votes away from Ben Carson in Iowa, and he just continues. Today, we had robo-calls saying, “Donald Trump is not going to run in South Carolina,” where I’m leading by a lot.

I’m not going to vote for Ted Cruz. This is the same thing he did to Ben Carson. This guy will say anything, nasty guy. Now I know why he doesn’t have one endorsement from any of his colleagues.

    TRUMP: He’s a nasty guy.

CRUZ: I will say, it is fairly remarkable to see Donald defending Ben after he called, “pathological,” and compared him to a child molester. Both of which were offensive and wrong.

TRUMP: That’s a lot of lies...

CRUZ: I did not nominate John Roberts. I would not have nominated John Roberts.

TRUMP: You pushed him. You pushed him.

    CRUZ: I supported...

TRUMP: You worked with him and you pushed him. Why do you lie?

CRUZ: You need to learn to not interrupt people.

    TRUMP: Why do you lie?...

TRUMP: No, but it’s another lie.

TRUMP: No, but it’s another lie. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Just a lie.

With all those pants on fire, you really can't blame ! for wanting to cavort around stage bare-arsed.
