. I find the show enjoyable, despite its flaws. On the other hand, maybe because of its flaws and let me tell you, this show has them! Most of the problems of the show can be summed up in a Saturday Night Live parody trailer for a Black Widow movie:

Yes, it’s Supergirl, played as a romantic comedy. There is the hot guy Supergirl desires, Jimmy (excuse me, James) Olsen, who is dating someone else, and there is the friendzoned work friend, who wallows in his self pity, but he is such a good friend that Supergirl would never want to change what they have.

So yes, you have seen this movie before. However the show does have its own charms. Calista Flockhart plays Supergirl’s media mogul boss Cat Grant with a hypercharged, manic gusto. All words I would never have thought to use in relation to Calista Flockhart. But the selfish, driven, work-is-all boss with the secret heart of gold probably gives the show its best moments. Will a Superhero themed romcom attract the woman viewer? No idea.

I am willing to give it another try assuming that they stopped all the "I am a girl" nonsense from the pilot which was probably one of the worst pilots I have ever seen.

I honestly don't know if I could recommend it, although I do find it a bit of light entertainment, and I definitely want to hang around for the Flash/Supergirl crossover, but I'm not sure the show is drawing the kind of ratings that would justify the expense of the show. I imagine all of those flying scenes and midair fights are expensive.

This show may have pushed the superhero genre to the edge. We might have reached peak super hero.

I am actually worried that the crossover will just hurt the Flash. Flash is still watchable even with the stupid Grodd episodes here there and it hasn't gone completely off the nut chart like Arrow did yet. To be honest they need to write out the story archs for these shows ahead of time instead of doing it on the fly like they seem to do even if it means the show only lasts 3 or 4 seasons. Arrow should have stopped after the second season and Flash while still good probably only has one more season in it before they start getting super silly plots. As it is they brought back Reverse Flash for some dumb (*)(*)(*)(*)ing reason probably because they are running out of ideas.

I think they've already set up the crossover so that no matter how ridiculous it is, it's isolated from the main continuity. Supergirl was shown during the path through the breach to Earth 2. So the world of Supergirl is a separate universe; so still no flying aliens on Earth 1.

It's funny, your descriptions of the show reads like my list of reasons why it's one of the most awful programs on TV.

In the lead-up to this show's premiere, I had high hopes for Supergirl, as Berlanti (producer) has done wonderfully with Arrow and The Flash (more-so with Flash). That SNL skit was on shortly before the pilot aired, and I thought it was hilarious. Then just a few weeks later, CBS released a "first look" video of Supergirl. After watching it, my jaw hit the floor. It was almost as if Lorne Michaels had a time machine and was preparing us for the utter disappointment that was to come. The Supergirl video and the SNL skit were basically the exact same thing, just with different actors - I almost couldn't believe that someone would actually make that TV show...on purpose...and was serious.

My expectations for Supergirl immediately tanked and I was no longer looking forward to it. When it finally aired however, I decided to give it a fair shot. I struggled through about 2 and half episodes of headaches from rolling my eyes so hard, and disappointed judgmental glances from my wife. She didn't even need to speak. We've been together long enough that I could instantly tell what she was thinking - "W T actual F?! The Sex in the City chics wouldn't even be caught dead watching this. Now you'd better put on Die Hard so I can have my husband back".

Part-way through that 3rd episode, I hit "Stop" on the remote, then deleted the series recording from my DVR schedule without a second thought.

TL;DR - Supergirl is a bad bad awful show.

Supergirl not on the list for CBS renewals...interesting.

Of course, they may be waiting to see if they can pull in big numbers for the Supergirl/Flash crossover episode. However this could be the end of an experiment in Eat Pray Powers type of superhero show.

    Even the commercials suck.

They can't do anything original. Repackage, and revamped arsenic and old lace, and even that is an insult to a classic.
