We propped up the Cuban government for years by keeping them isolated from the awesome power of our American system.

There is NO WAY Castro could have continued for 50+ years had they been exposed to free market enterprise and an open trade and travel policy with the USA.

I highly doubt those Cubans here in America who are so fully vested in this problem ever really thought that isolation was a solution. What they wanted was military conquest.

Each of these nations has major factors that radically differ from Cuba.

Remember that we approached China because we knew that trade would be far more effective at moving China toward fundamentals that we respect. We did not do it because we though a nation of that size would suddenly have a revolution and switch forms of government. However, we DO now have far more leverage in affecting factors in China.

 

So the Chinese have freedom of speech and are free from humanitarian abuse? The people are not oppressed? Or does their government just have more money, and more military might?

placed an arms embargo on Cuba, denying Batista weapons and spare parts for his planes. Why did you ignore that?

If you wanted the US to assassinate someone, that was more JFK's style, as he had the CIA attempt to take Castro's life numerous times. Later, after his Bay of Pigs fiasco, Kennedy went on to use the CIA to overthrow South Vietnam's president and causing his assassination.
