Since I was living when the Nazis were at war with the world, the interesting thing for me is that until around the time of Bill Clinton, I had at no time heard of the Nazis being on the same side as republicans. This is the message Democrats want you to believe. There is no dirtier party by far than the Democrats. Even the troubles caused for Cruz and Trump emanate from the Democrats use of the media. In 1962 when I was then based at Ft. Benning, GA, the Democrats were in the process of tearing each other up. It wasn't their objections to each other that offended me, it was the rude, name calling they did to each other.
If you knew your history you would know not full control. Industry and private property still remained in the hands of the owners. In Russia and China they didn't. Augusto Pinochet also took full control of Chile, including industry and land of the peasants.
The issue is not labels, which can change with the times & redefinitions. the basic issue is the philosophy of govt. Do you want a big, controlling, powerful govt that can redistribute everyone's income, dictate what food you eat, & other decisions of life, or do you want more individual freedom, a limited, specific duty govt, under the control of the citizens. What is going on here is a false equivalency between 'right & left' in some euro political scenario that does not correlate to the battle for America. We do not have nazis.. not a significant number, anyway. Our communists are increasing, & are a significant force in the public discourse in America. American constitutionalists are decreasing, as statism & the Great Fiction are pitched as valid expressions of our collective organizational system (aka, govt). We have more anarchists than nazis, & they have seized the public narrative & try to convince they are a valid option. But the major division in America is between the big govt liberals, who want more socialistic processes in govt, & the limited govt traditionalists, who want less govt, less taxes, & more individual freedom & responsibility.
For the American constitutionalist, with an awareness of the American Experiment, the differences between Franco & Stalin are indistinguishable. As are those between Pinochet & Mao. All of those are big, controlling, powerful central govts, with little freedom & influence by the people. America was founded differently, as a govt of, by, & for the people. These were not just platitudes, or propaganda by a ruling elite, but were the actual practice of the nation for 200 years. We have been in serious decline over the last 50 yrs, & the concept of 'self rule' is becoming a propaganda platitude, with no basis in reality. Professional hustlers run the system, & manipulate it for their own gain. Propaganda & lies flood the electorate, with useful idiots selling us out for some scraps from the looter's table.
Okay, but that means libertarianism is far left (which is why we call the left liberals). And that's the problem with this left/right dichotomy in the modern age. It's not that it's wrong, so much as the socialists have somehow convinced themselves that they aren't far-right.
+1 It is merely semantics.. definitional differences designed to deceive. To be compared to hitler is a great smear, so that is why they do it.
I don't know about that. I think they truly believe that Trump is a nazi in drag, and he might well be. He does share many of the same beliefs. That said, I think what really happened to the left is summed up quite succinctly here.
And that sums up the problem. Gov. Brown of CA is in the middle of raising the minimum wage to $15. Naturally this will result in lost jobs or at the best, higher prices. Listening to Brown, he acts entitled to raise wages.
Forgive me for this, but step away from the internet and read a book. If you're truly interested, go read a book. Come to your own conclusion. This place eventually just parts right down the center and will do nothing but confirm your bias. Want to learn? Go to a library.
What's funny is that now that the right wingers can't dispute that Nazis were right wing (because of Hitler's own words)...they go off on some other rant about what it is that they hate about....something
Oh, I see what you did there. No, it the national socialists are right wingers, then naturally the progressive socialists are right wingers. And the republicans are libertarians, which makes them.... can you guess?
Every group has racists, every party tries to control wages in one form or another and there are rules for every business and people are always trying to change them. But I still can not say the left or right is anything like what Nazi's truly were.
How exactly? https://labourpartysupporters.wordp...-are-left-wing-ideologies-student-fact-study/ http://www.westernjournalism.com/heres-why-its-idiotic-to-conflate-fascism-with-right-wing-ideology/
From what I have read Hitler actually made it slightly easier for German Citizens to own firearms, but made a point of seizing weapons from political opponents such as Communists. Unfortunately for Germany most of the people who owned guns agreed with him.
lies. its NATIONAL Socialist - - - Updated - - - Trump wants to ban Muslims from coming in to the USA. you're obviously not paying attention
The Natzis were socialists about as much as North Korea is a democratic republic which is to say not at all. As for right wing left wing, what does it matter?
Nazis allowed lots of private enterprise and corporations. Socialists HATE corporations and wealthy industrialists. Socialism is a color-blind, nation-blind ideology that seeks to unite all workers against the upper class. Nazis see the Germans as a superior "race", that should rule over all others, regardless of socio-economic status.
The American Founding Fathers were right wing extremists. They believed government was evil and it should be kept as small and feeble as possible. Nazism is very far from the American right wing. It involves a strong (leftist) governing philosophy.
I'll readily concede that. However, that doesn't mean the righties of America are the righties of 1940s Europe. They were socialists and communists. Not just Germany, but a wave of communism spread throughout Europe after the first world war. Call them righties all you like, but that just makes barney and hillary righties, and libertarians like me lefties. I can live with that.
To be fair, libertarian political ideologies WERE associated with the left for a long time, although the first people who called themselves libertarians looked a lot different from modern American libertarians.
I'm not so sure that they were much different from today's libertarians. We want more freedom and less government. How is that not libertarian?
Hitler shared many traits with the American right. Xenophobia, disdain of minority groups especially people of colour, anti immigration, white supremacy, anti worker's rights, anti union, hatred of the left, environmental vandalism..
