Apparently they were ineffective in destroying the buffalo herds
And it is not clear how inter tribal warfare differed from what went on in Europe and Asia

Dude you've jumped the shark. You said move them online - what a dumb idea. You can't do that with degrees involving labs.

My daughter took a three years of radiology classes online with an emphasis in ultrasound.

This summer she starts a year of internship at one of the local hospitals to complete the degree.

Can't do that online my friend nor could she have done the testing or lab work required thus far ...

As for Virginia public universities being government schools?

Nonsense - a Google search under "Virginia government schools" produced nothing other than a reminder that their ARE no government universities (other than military) followed by listings of Virginia public colleges and universities.

Boise State is a research institution heavy on nursing and other med fields along with technology.

Since the sequester, most of its funding comes from the state & private donations. You can't do R, D, or lab stuff online.

Besides which, if you got your wish ... our downtown area would curl up and die and there would be no more of our beloved Boise State Bronco football team.

Thankfully, what you propose will NEVER come to pass.

They were very successful they destroyed all the large herds until efforts were made to save a tiny threatened remnant.

Tribal warfare frequently led to the total annihilation of an enemy tribe. Wars between civilized enemies have never been nearly as deadly as tribal wars that often resulted in 100% or near 100% casualties.

LOL! So you admit I did not call for "shutting them down". At last! Tyvm! :)

A land grant campus is not needed o train an ultrasound tech - a great career BTW.

Again, public education is government education. It is not difficult to discover this: “In the United States, the term "state school" is colloquial for state university, a college or university in a state university system. The term "public school" is used for elementary, middle, and high schools which are funded and/or run by a governmental entity. The term "public school" is used in the United States to mean what other countries call "state school". Wiki

It would also be under the 1st amendment to paint the Mexican illegal with fangs chasing a young blonde girl.

Someone should get on that. :)

It's as relevant as he is a vet.

Just one voice and nothing special for being a vet. The day that soldiers have all the rights to say how walls in schools look like, is a day that the US lost all it's freedom and turned into North Korea style of dictatorship.

Well lets discuss your contention that the indians nearly exterminated the bison.

In fact it is well recorded history that americans encountered enormous herds of bison
And that they set about slaughtering them

Massive hunting parties began to arrive in the West by train, with thousands of men packing .50 caliber rifles, and leaving a trail of buffalo carnage in their wake. Unlike the Native Americans or Buffalo Bill, who killed for food, clothing and shelter, the hunters from the East killed mostly for sport. Native Americans looked on with horror as landscapes and prairies were littered with rotting buffalo carcasses. The railroads began to advertise excursions for “hunting by rail,” where trains encountered massive herds alongside or crossing the tracks. Hundreds of men aboard the trains climbed to the roofs and took aim, or fired from their windows, leaving countless 1,500-pound animals where they died.

The Indians drove massive herds of buffalo over steep drops. Their ability to do this expanded when the acquired the horse from Europeans. To that extent Europeans assisted them in reducing the buffalo population. Single shot rifles were not nearly as effective as driving the herds over cliffs.

No. The remark I quoted was irrelevant to this conversation.

And that is just your opinion which you have a right to voice, thanks to people who have fought for those rights. .... ya know ... veterans.

No. Soldiers, civilians, veterans, even the hopelessly ungrateful and disrespectful who are among us .... have "all the rights to say". It's been that way for a while now, and we're still not like North Korea.

Let me school you on the First Amendment a little. You see, that school is allowed to have those images painted on its walls as long as they don't mind having them there. That is called "free expression". The art is regarded as an extension of the right to free speech, and so it is protected by the First Amendment. By the same token, the faculty, staff, students, veterans, all citizens, taxpayers, the press, and internet posters like me may argue against it. We may criticize their decision all we want. This is freedom.

You may hold an opinion about the art too. But the issue isn't who has a right to an opinion, thanks to brave people who have fought for us to have that right. No, we shouldn't even be talking about who has a right to an opinion because we are not North Korea; we are not Saudi Arabia. We are the United States of America. :flagus:

I find it mildly disturbing that I would even feel the need to explain this to someone who is using the internet to express his or her views freely. I've noticed this trend lately, especially on some college campuses. Their are those who don't really even like the First Amendment. They think they should be "protected" from differing points of view. They think differing points of view are offensive and scary, and they should be censored. Recently, students at Emory University told school officials that they were "scared" and "in pain" because someone chalked "Trump 2016" on steps and sidewalks on the campus. And among these frightened little snowflakes are discussions about who should have free speech and who should not.

My two cents ... :salute: :flagus:

So i guess people shooting from trains at massive herds did not happen
Because there were no massive herds

I think what you are missing is that americans killed bison for sport
    The more the better
Indians killed as needed for food and hides
Not for some pleasure of killing lots of bison
Btw, if you have ever been to the great plains
You might realize that there are really not so many cliffs

Do you have any links confirming indian decimation of bison

negative. The remark I quoted was irrelevant to this conversation. Him being a vet doesn't give him any extra voting power what so ever. Get lost with your anti-American police state.

Actually that is the law. Not vet is getting more than just 1 voice.
The attack on Iraq was not to protect rights of Americans.

The US will look like North Korea if a school must give in to the opinion of the military. A school is no democratic institution even. Starts to be rather fascist/north korea like when the government decides what art is allowed to be on the wall in the schools. And it seems like this is not sinking in with you.

Will review what I have tomorrow and give a a few good cites. My recollection from previous reading is that the Americans certainly did slaughter a lot of Bison. But the Indians had perfected complex strategies for driving them off of cliffs early on. It became much easier after the horse arrived. You might Google "Bison drop" or Bison cliff" many of the spots are named. As i recall the evidence is extensive.

Your remark had to do with a national policy (the wars in the middle east) about which soldiers and veterans had no choice. It was irrelevant.

The veteran quoted in the article was a student there. No one said he gets more than one voice. But he gets a voice, and it must be allowed.

I didn't say it was. I said the rights you have to freely voice your opinion were paid for with the blood of those who fought for them.

A veteran is not "the military". And, the veteran was a student there.

I never said a school was democratic, and I never said the government should decide what art is allowed.

In this country, you may not censor people because you do not agree with them. Veterans have as much a right to their opinion, and to voice those opinions, as anyone else. You seem to have a problem with this.

Many of our young veterans of this era have actually been to other countries. Many have seen the conditions under which other people live, and they end up with an even greater loyalty to and love for this country based upon those personal experiences. Many have fought our enemies as well. Some people give added weight to the opinions of veterans because they have experienced things that spoiled, bratty, protected, snowflakes and internet posters haven't experienced. Hence, it is not surprising that the author of the article identified the person as a veteran because it adds understanding to his comments.

Bison jump appears to be the term
I am not saying indians did not do this
But am asking for a reference that this significantly impacted bison populations
