Chicago, much like Detroit and DC, are prime examples of liberal disaster. These liberal-run cities (have been for decades) are safe havens for racists, "hoodrats", drive-bys, and everything else the 'hood offers.
Chicago.. I live there.. yeah, it's a cesspool... It's a weird city. The northside is where 99.9999% of all the liberal white people live.. and the south side is where 99.999% of all the blacks l... The city is segregated as F. The south side is where a lot of shooting takes place. Robberies and muggings happen in the northside by blacks that are from the south side with a sprinkling of Latino violence. However, Latinos for the most part stay in their own small neighborhoods. Government caters to making the black people happy by having a "dog and pony" show every now and than via personal changes (firing the chief of police), gun buy back programs, speeches, etc. But at the end of the day, the city is crooked. This is another case of the government trying to please the black voters/demographics...
It's the 60's all over again, and democrats are in full money making mode attempting to protect the very people they are exploiting for profits. This isn't about racism as much as it is about Government being the disease and masquerading as it's own cure. Now where have I read that before?

Yeah, it's decent on the surface.. Clean parks (in the north side), nice restaurants (in the north side), good public transportation (suburbs to downtown.. not to/from southside to downtown). It's all surface though. Deep down, it's a cesspool. There's a good number of blacks in chicago (41% of the city is black). However, if you visit downtown, you wouldn't really see that many black people since a lot of them don't live/work there. Perhaps you will see 10% blacks... if that... It's like an uneasy truce between people from the northside and those from the southside. Northside people don't want to appear racists, but they know the color of the skin of those doing the robbing and the raping in their neighborhoods. The people on the south side are upset because they are poor. However, the government does a "dog and pony" show for them, so they are somewhat sated. I call it a cesspool because a city should be working together to make it a better place to live instead of trying to placate it's citizens with grand perfunctory speeches about "inequality" or NOT putting people in jail because it would appear racists... This overhaul is another case of the government trying to placate the black constituency.... while those on the northside roll their eyes, but yet trying to tread carefully not to seem racists.. It's just soo stupid.
WTH are you talking about. They have clean parks on the south side, Nice restaurants......especially all the Real Italian and Sicilian ones. They also have good public transportation on the south-side to downtown and from the suburbs. You do know they consider NW Indiana Chicagoland Area, Right? Have you ever lived on the South-Side? Yes the Northside has a larger population of whites. Same transit, same bangers, and the difference would be those all gay neighborhoods up on the Northside. Oh and the Cubs.
I lived there many moons ago and I liked it. However, as ArmySoldier pointed out, Chicago's spectacular decline is hardly unique. A lot of our cities have gone to crap over the past several decades...
Well I don't know about some of the others. But our population has declined to what the 1940 levels were. The Demos/libs/progressives/illiberals are so desperate here.....they are taxing bowling and playing miniature golf. Which was after they stole the Union's pensions.
We were some of the people who left Chicago, but I have fond memories of the place. And, yes, I'm still a Cubs fan... I saw my first baseball game at Wrigley Field. I'm not surprised and I have no idea how Chicago is going to turn that stuff around...
I never lived on the south-side, but I did get married around 38th and Halsted street. Yes, I know technically Hyde park is on the south side for some.. So Obama basically lived in the "south side".. but as a whole, most Chicagoans consider the southside as where most blacks live. NOT, those small pockets of rich areas (the extreme minority) close to the university of chicago. The south side to most chicagoans is where white sox fans get rob because they aren't from the city and don't realize Celluar field is basically on the southside unlike Wrigglefield which is safer and on the northside. Places like the Englewood neighborhood, etc.. are what people consider the "south side".. Also, none of my chicago friends EVER consider "NW Indiana Chicagoland Area" the "south side".. shiet, that's where white people go when they don't want to pay chicago taxes and when they want a house with a front lawn. Except for less shootings.. cleaner trains, etc... ever notice how nasty the red line trains are? The ones traveling from the southside going to downtown and back??? "Larger population of whites".. That's an under statement. Dude, it's like 99% whites living on the the Northside.. My friend from Champagn IL told me he never saw so many blondes before... The south side is the complete opposite.. very few whites... Lots of rusted cars and ugly buildings.. Obviously, I'm not talking about those small area's in the south side where Obama use to live.. People don't consider those areas the "south side"... Chicago is a very segregated city.. The few minorities I know that live around me have section 8 housing..
Everytime I left I ended up coming back. That's despite the weather that sucks. To late now to pull up roots and all. One can buy a house in NW Indiana.....and will still only be 20 mins from downtown and work. If in Hammond, Whiting, or East Chicago less than 20 mins. Naturally one gets more for their money in NW Indiana. At least land and house wise. What costs 200k in Illinois I can get for around 150. The only way they turn it around here.....is for the Demos to get ran out of Power. Which won't be happening anytime soon.
There is more than just Hyde Park. There is even a hood in the Pullman area that the majority there are White. Sure they are surrounded. But that's how it is on the Southside. Pockets here and there. Then the Suburbs. It is segregated thats for sure. Oh, and as for the Blondes. The place is Texas. Although, I did manage to find one here.
I lived in Naperville in 95 -96. I spent plenty of time in Chicago. You could not pay me enough to go back...ever. I have no desire to visit or live east of the Rockies again.

I can't remember where I read this, and I don't know if it's true but, I read that some cities are willing to pay blacks 1000.00 per month to be goot boys and not do nuffin bad. Could be BS but, if it's true, some thing is wrong when political correctness takes over common sense.
Yes that really happened. The city you're thinking of is Washington DC, bastion of perpetual Democrat dominion and Black feral criminality. They had a pilot program where they picked a few hundred "at risk" people, aka criminal Blacks, and paid them each week if they weren't arrested.
