They both believed things without evidence. When the evidence came in, it showed the Earth wasn't flat. The evidence will never come in for gods, because as I understand it, they're said to be supernatural. That puts them beyond the scope of scientific examination. The claim that gods exist is unfalsifiable, therefore unscientific, therefore nonsense.

Actually, people believed the earth was flat because they simply thought it was so. It had nothing to do with the presence (or lack thereof) of evidence. In regards to God, people believe in Him and are aware that there is no physical evidence of Him. - - - Updated - - - Easy- God is the Creator, not the creation. OK...here is the problem.....YOU have FAITH and that's fine......BUT.....in reality there really does not exist any evidence or proof that any GOD or GODS exist. Absolutely not a shred of evidence. You cannot logically use any ancient human religious text to justify any existence of a GOD nor can you use it as evidence because it is not. It is simply words written in a book by man. THEN.....there are the PROBABILITY CALCULATIONS. Probability when calculated for any existing GOD as advertised by any and all ancient Human Religious Text is calculated as 1 Chance in 10^178th. As I have stated before a STATISTICAL IMPOSSIBILITY exists at and above 1 Chance in 10^150th. So the PROBABILITY although not ZERO is still so low that a GOD as advertised by any and all ancient religious human text that the chance is lower than a Statistical Impossibility. NOW/.....when you redefine what a GOD would be.....this changes the Probability Calculations. EXAMPLE......if GOD was defined as NATURE.....then the Probability that such a GOD exists is 1 Chance in 1. AA
So are you "doing" belief, or are you "being" belief? That would help because measurements and observing properties of the real world are actually "doing". If you are just "being" belief, then that is more non-explainable stuff. Not sure if you don't know what you're explaining or if you just can't explain what you know? How do you "prove" that a God exists? It's your hypothesis, explain how you do it.
Both. Wrong, my hypothesis is that "no proof of God" does not mean "God does not exist." 'A' does not equal B. Simple logic.
Is there really a need for those of us who believe in God to justify our belief though? I am quite happy to co-exist with people who do not believe in God. All I ask is that they respect my beliefs as I respect theirs.
