The question is, are Christians allowed to wear crosses around their necks? Are Jews allowed to wear yarmulkes? If not, then the school is correct in my opinion for enforcing the uniform policy.
You're all fighting over whether a Muslim woman should be allowed to wear a hijab in the military. My question would be 'Should she be allowed in the military anyway'? She may, one day, be faced with killing another Muslim. This would go against their teaching. Muslims are all 'people of the Book'. The US is a secular state. A supporter of Israel. Whose enemies are Islamic countries. Which loyalty lies first? Islam or the US? . Just a thought.
You did not find any of the evidence they brought forward convincing. That isn't a conscious act unless you are claiming you could choose to believe everything the Bible.
Well done Citadel! Glad to see the whiney PC police can't affect this establishment. Don't want to wear the uniform as it's supposed to be, don't join. This is a volunteer military.
you are not making any sense. People all the time who are part of something, drop it, and later feel they were wrong and come back to it. People all the time feel their way is the only way, then realize they were wrong and change things. Belief is a ever evolving conscious thing. You choose to believe what you want, just like Muslims who have believed in Islam, then defect from it for whatever reason, and then some even go back to it. You are just making up one of the most tired excuses I have ever seen to try and create a narrative that fits your agenda. Now saying what we believe is a pre chosen subconscious thing lol. Peoples views change or nobody would be able to change their lives outright and correct mistakes.
Choose right now to believe that the Catholic Church is the right church for you. Be convinced on that belief. You can switch back in five minutes. But right now choose to against your beliefs and completely change them to something you don't believe in. You can't. Your beliefs are based on evidence and information that you find convincing. The process of being convinced by or rejecting information is an unconscious one. And stop lying about me. How many times do I have to say that not a choice is not the same is pre-chosen or pre-ordained? - - - Updated - - - So choose right now to agree with their interpretation of the Bible.
Later down the line i could change that on my own, I'm not a robot lol. I believe in ghosts, but I could find something to where I don't believe anymore, but then later a book could fly past my face on its own and immediately there I could believe again lol. NOTHING IS ABSOLUTE. And now getting back to the subject , no the citadel should not make special accommodations for something you can stop believing in 5 minutes later. Follow the rules or don't attend. These places are not there for you to create rules to bow down to you way of life.
Where do you get this idea that I am saying beliefs do not change? I AM SAYING THE CHANGES ARE NOT CONSCIOUS If you aren't a "robot", believe right now that the Catholic Church is correct. You can switch back in five minutes. But right now choose to believe that. If you can't, then you do not have that choice.
Exactly. It's a volunteer military. If you volunteer to wear a uniform, don't expect people to give a (*)(*)(*)(*) if you feel butthurt that you can't wear your terror hat.
Rulesets, and the choice to join an establishment with said rulesets however are conscious choices. Citadel has no responsibility to change theirs, and she doesnt have any mandate to go there if these rulesets interfere with her religious beliefs and choices.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Finding something convincing can have all sorts of gray areas.....
You are asking me to be a robot by demanding me to change what I believe in . I don't have to believe or do anything you say, I make my own choices to do as I please. My beliefs can change at a moments notice by my choosing, you have nothing to do with that. - - - Updated - - - That's like me asking permission to enter your household, then telling you that you need to change your house rules to accommodate my way of life lol.
If that was true, then you would be able to test your claim by changing your beliefs and then changing them back.
A person can wear a cross under their clothes and still meet the uniform requirements. Does not apply to this case. A yarmulke is not allowed when in uniform, that's been the policy for ages. The real question is, why did this muslim apply to the Citadel knowing that the Citadel environment was not compatible to her muslim priorities? Obviously because she is looking for a fight and wants to be a crusader for islam.
So on the battlefield which would instill more fear in the enemy? A women wearing headgear showing she is of the Muslim faith. Or a women wearing headgear showing she is of the Pastafarian faith?
i have the choice to believe what I want to believe, the thing is my beliefs came from study and making decisions based off of the knowledge I have gained. Things are ever evolving , but I make the choice to go left or right..... Not you.
If you want to participate at that school, the rules are all laid out for you to read beforehand. Accept them, or dont. It's really that simple.
He knows. Not one person stepped up to back him up. He's lost the argument but fails to admit defeat because he knows he chose a ridiculous position to defend.
Can you choose right now to believe that the Catholic Church is the right church for you and believe 100% that that is true?
Even as a non-Catholic Christian, he can not say that he could do that. That choice would require forcing oneself into a state of cognitive dissonance.
That one on the top is a hottie! That wierdo underneath with the collander should be locked up in a padded room.... so I'll go with her instilling more fear. In any regard though, neither of those pieces of headgear are allowed.
I agree, but to give this female cadet the benefit of the doubt .. perhaps she is young and just has cold feet about going to a school as demanding as the Citadel.. How could hijab have been an issue when she applied? She knew the dress code. Has she suddenly become more religious.. more observant?
