True. Both parties have done it, and it is tricky.

Help there cause? by bombing ISIS and other terrorist groups while telling people not to blame the 99% of muslims who don't support jihad or sharia law. The same way I dont blame all Jews for the 1% that think a book allows them to live wherever they please, or the ones that bomb British diplomats and go on to become prime minister of Israel. I dont blame all Hindu's for the 1% killing Muslims over beef, and I don't blame all protestants for the largest mass lynching in US history which was against Italian American Catholics. People are crazy wherever you go in the world, just look at the westboro baptist church

Nothing wrong with giving US Aid to the oppressed Palestinians. The Israelis are so wrong to persecute and slaughter the Palestinian victims.

I really am not blaming Obama for the terrorism.

Could he have taken a strong stand and tried to mitigate it? I think some can make an excellent case that he lost our hard won gains.

This country could stick to and stand by some sort of plan.

But we swap presidents like they are old shoes so no one president gets to matter for very long. Not on the scale of this conflict.

I think it was England mopping up the Ottoman Empire. Was that really a legitimate empire the way you see things?

I know a lot about Mossadegh since I have had over a long time, a number of iranians to discuss this with. I got views coming from both sides in Iran. It was pretty hard for all of them to come up with the best plan, to try to save Mossadeghy or the Shah. The Shah had history on his side. Some assume he deserved to be kicked out. I really have mixed feelings.

I asked his loyalists for their view then asked the Ayatollah's pals their view.

I can tell you that a lot of them that backed Ayatollah became sorry they did back him.

It's not that Saudi Arabia sanctioned it but some of there oil rich citizens did... I used to think we were in the right funding the mujaheddin but after listening to Chomsky and Tariq talk about the Soviets I have started to have my doubts. The Russians were not hell bent on destroying the country in the same way were wished not to, in fact it was the governing body at the time in Afghanistan who called the Russians to intervene to maintain the communist government. The destruction of the country didn't happen until after the insurgency spread throughout the country as is the case today in Afghanistan. Arming the uprising that led the Soviets to destroy the country probably did more harm than good. But Im not apologetic towards the soviets as they ended up causing tragedies on a larger scale than the US. But fast forward and invading and occupying a country for refusing to give up terrorists is ridiculous, the initial attack on major cities was quick and painless but just like the Soviets the presence of foreign troops created the uprising against occupying forces. And your right about Pakistan as the former head of ISI in Pakistan went on about his support for the Taliban and Al-qeada and how brave they were for attacking the twin towers on a very interesting debate for Al jazeera.

Yeah, John Dillinger, Bonny and Clyde were oppressed.

I am lucky to have been in school when Israel was formed.

The hatred for Israel is not as old as some think. This hate for Israel is modern in fact. Growing up and graduating from high school in 1956 was a time this country marveled at the restoration of Israel to a viable functioning country.
A return from the ash heap of history and one the Bible speaks of a lot.

I assure the lovers of Palestinians this is solvable by them. The people of Israel would love not to keep counter attacking. Love peace. Love having the Palestinians declare support for the country of israel. Then no more attacks in return on the poor palestinians.

And you are correct about the British, Im sorry if I didn't make that clear
And you are right about the Ayatollah to, at that point they just wanted the Shah out.
Mossadegh was definitely stubborn but I just cant accept that there was no way of making the British stop trying to undermine the government, I feel like if Truman was still in office he would have eventually come up with a solution because Eisenhower was an incompetent fool

To lay my cards on the table, I am no fan of Chomsky. I can't quote Tariq but if he is a pal of Chomsky, that discredits him.

I agree that the communist government then over Afghanistan did call in the Soviets. I think that is why Reagan took his time before he armed the fighters, aka freedom fighters.

I have bias against the Soviets since Stalin was living when I was born and I was in high school when he died. This country spent time setting us all up to despise the Soviets. It was all over the news. Even the TV program about communism was well received here. I watched it weekly.

Back when the Soviets were helping to run Afghanistan, most of us of sufficient age do recall much of those times.

But you know our press. They pick a side and promote it.

Being anti communist was easy to be all for.

And I dont think a lot of Palestinians will declare support for Israel when the leadership says there has to be a Jewish majority to maintain it's legitimacy, members of parliament regularly come out with racial slurs and insults against Palestinians and Muslims.

The Palestinians though with some just complaints, still are their worst enemy.

They simply never will shove Israel out.

You can not like him outright but thats just opinion, he is one of the most credible sources in modern history and everything he says has been thoroughly researched, documented and is factually accurate. Some of his political beliefs are arguable but when he talks about communism he admits it is a very flawed system when compared to a democracy. But some of the reasons it failed to succeed in establishing itself around the world was because of United States efforts to make sure they fail. In Vietnam, Cuba, central Asia (including Afghanistan) and Eastern Europe we were always there to make sure there efforts were unsuccessful and wouldn't pose as a model to other countries who might follow. Although I dont personally like Soviet style government it makes you really wonder what those places would be like today without the Cold War.

I have not read all the words spoken by Chomsky, and clocks that are broken are also able to be right part of the time.

I think one had to compare life in the USA to life under communism to really understand. We actually were quite friendly to the Soviets during FDR's era. Wallace his VP for a term was very pro Soviet.

I felt so sorry for those living under communism. When in Berlin, I saw it up close and personal. i took photos of life under communism.

Their food was drab. Their property was drab. East Berlin gave the appearance of an abandoned city. West Berlin was alive, full of fun and entertainment. East Berlin had guards walking about with machine guns at the ready.

Oh here we go again, the do-gooderism.

Tell me, which one would you choose, a Israeli kid who will be killed by makeshift rockets or a Palestinian kid who will die of malnutrition?

See? You are not holier than anybody.

Try to think a bit from time to time, "progressive".

Don't be naive. Mosaddegh was a typical leftwing-nationalist. He had some liberal ideas, but he was in no way, a liberal, classical or modern. What likely happen is that under Mosaddegh's far leftwing rein, Iran's economy crashes like today's Venezuela, then the Islamic fundamentalists overthrow him and take control because Iran had tried the way of the west, but failed.

Don't feel bad, Iran will eventually become a theocracy anyway. Most 3rd world countries fail to develop into a mature, functional democracy. Those that actually managed to be successful all had a long history of being colonized by the west.

The response to Katrina was crippled by Bush's slashing of FEMA's budget, and the appointment of a novice to run it. Security at the Benga i compound was compromised by the Republican Congress slashing the security budget for the State Department. Republican hands are filled with blood for both things.

Why did you allege Bush cut the Fema budget meaning it lacked funding for the storm?

If funding was actually a problem it shows Brownie did a good job.

Brown really did do a good job. What remedy is there for a major flood? Bush pressed the Coast Guard hard to save victims. But alas, what did Mayor Nagin do at the time?

Then the more than lazy governor. She was asked by Bush to declare an emergency so he could use FEMA.

FEMA for those not knowing at the time was a small group of people scattered all over America.

Story of inmate Ray Nagin formerly mayor of New Orleans who despite being a major Cluster mess up, failed to save his city.

You said you had "mixed feelings" for Mosaddegh. You might as well have the same stuff for Che.

The frist part of the invasion might have been 'planned' but lets face it, anyone can do that.
The problem was bush the loser had no idea what to do after that.
We and the world, will be paying for his mistakes for generations.

Worst military and political blunder in history.

Just as there is no Basketball, baseball or football team that is just one person, so it is with making plans over conquest and later on occupation.

Some of you assume Bush intended to occupy Iraq. This is a major error on your part.

How many wars had Bush fought before? Next how did Korea turn out for Truman? Did Vietnam work well for Kennedy and later Johnson?

Then all the complaining that Bush 41 failed to remove Saddam?

Those (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing to high heaven over Bush never waged a war to free human.

I give Bush credit for going all out to free 50 million humans counting two countries.

    Why did Obama bail out?

Why is it the job description given to Obama is following the parade that was in progress?

    He is no leader.
