    The wannabe commie has no clue what he is talking about. The Soviets never had any intention of negation of conditional surrender with Japan. The Potsdam agreement was based on nothing but unconditional surrender by the Empire of Japan. The Soviets adhered to the very letter of the of the agreement.

    They weren't close to getting a bomb because the Navy and the Army fought over who should get to run it and instead created 2 separate programs that meant that neither bomb program got what it needed. The Japanese sabotaged their own project.

    I'm not saying it was ever likely to happen, I'm saying it was Japan's last hope and they surrendered when even that long shot was obviously impossible.
