Don't take these polls too seriously. If you did a poll like this in any major US high school we'd likely have assault weapons banned soon enough if that poll was put into law. You always have to remember that forums are generally the haunt of angry middle aged men who naturally tend to be pro gun and illiberal in the extreme.
Handguns are used ~40x more often to commit murder than 'assault weapons'. Handguns are used most to commit murder, 'assault weapons the least, of all classes of weapons, including bony parts. Handguns cannot be banned, regardless of this fact. How can 'assault weapons' be banned, and why should they be?
Having a checkmark in the wrong box when they investigate you (and consider you cleared, but checked "no fly") can cause you to be on the list for 8 years, despite doing everything legally possible to get taken off the list.
What evidence is there that shows that an AR ban in America will have a positive effect on firearm related deaths?
Well, based on current stats, if all rifles were taken away, gun murders MIGHT be 3% lower. That is the proportion of gun murders that occur due to all rifles.
That is a big if and might. How do we remove most AR's from the population, including the black market? From my perspective if we cannot severely limit the black market then in the end we will be largely removing AR's from nonviolent people while the violent may still have access. What is there to keep gunman from switching to high capacity pistols in the absence of AR's?
Meaning a magazine capable of holding eleven rounds of ammunition. Show us a firearm that cannot be discharged in a rapid fashion.
if the Bannerrhoid movement believed most rock owners were conservatives and the rock lobby supported conservative candidates, yeah they would want to ban them - - - Updated - - - LOL, I guess you consider any place where the police are present is a war zone. You don't know much about USPSA do you?
you're gonna have to stop using this juvenile term "bannerhoid", if you actually want folks to take your comments seriously.
I think people who actually understand the issues realize I am really quite knowledgeable about gun issues and I pretty well shred the bannerrhoid movement. ITs a great name for a movement that is based on dishonesty and fraud and is all about harassing and restricting the rights of others purely out of political spite. Few informed people think that the Bannerrhoid movement really cares about public safety or actually stopping criminals when almost every solution the BM has involves laws that only impact honest citizens. Speaking of taking comments seriously? what about say a guy who makes claims of having offices or firearms we all know he doesnt' ?
Yes, that's why in Orlando the police immediately sent in just one officer with a pistol who took out the shooter within the first 3 minutes, minimizing the casualties because any good guy with a pistol could take him out. Why do you think the media and press keep lying by not telling us that is what happened?
Everyone knows that US Senator Kennedy was a terrorist because put on the no-fly list He should have been impeached and Senate removed from the US Senate. Also history books should teach that he was a terrorist.
under California laws-this is an assault weapon. The olympic trials were moved out of california (we used to shoot the trials at the 1984 Venue in Ontario California)
From what I understand, the guns which are commonly referred to as "assault weapons" here in the United States are simply single shot rifles. In other words, they aren't fully automatic. In that case, I would say that they should not be banned. However, fully automatic rifles are banned as far as I know and should remain banned. I am, however, all in favor of strict background checks performed on anyone who wishes to purchase any kind of gun before they are allowed to do so.
why should any weapon that civilian police officers are issued for self defense in civilian areas be banned for other civilians since criminals cannot own firearms or buy firearms or touch firearms yet cause 80% or more of the homicides involving firearms, how are background checks going to really do any good?
