And the AR15 was never manufactured or marketed as a weapon of war or an assault weapon... It was manufactured and marketed to the general public for the purpose of hunting/recreation/competition/self defense and law enforcement which are all legal uses.

A child can operate an AR-15 more safely than a hand gun. Recoil won't change the direction that an AR is aimed. At worst, the muzzle may rise a couple of inches, but probably not even that. Hand a kid a .44 magnum or a subcompact .40 pistol. They may be scared from ever shooting again if it's their first experience.
