The council of Niece is where the bible was put together. It changed Christianity forever. Besides it was only for protestants

There are numerous things that have transpired on earth (and continue to transpire) that seem totally impossible to justify in light of there being an all powerful entity that is so interested in each of us that all we have to do is think some words (pray) and He'll hear.

But, we have a hard enough time figuring out how not to kill each other, where Earth came from, etc. - it's not surprising that we haven't figured out God.

I'd point out to those interested that the word Islam comes from an Arabic root (slm) from which many words concerning peace, greetings (salaam), submission and surrender are derived. "Muslim" comes from a standard word pattern applied to that root and means "one who submits" (to God).

I hadn't heard that name for messiah - I learned المسيح but I'm a neophyte and an agnostic to boot, so ...

HIs wife said: " “My religion teaches me that all human beings are equal in God’s eyes,” she said. “Husband and wife are part of each other; you should love and respect each other so you can take care of the family. When Donald Trump is talking about Islam, he is ignorant." http://nymag.com/daily/intelligence...n-pens-emotional-op-ed-criticizing-trump.html
Apparently someone needs to show Mrs. Khan Qur'an 4:34, which says she can be beaten (4+ translations say this), and that she's inferior to her husband because HE is "in charge of her", and that he "excels" her - so she's inferior to him, just due to her gender and nothing else.

Has she simply not read the Qur'an? I wonder how many people in the world cling to the superstition they just happened to be raised in, and not bothered to read just how barbaric their ancient texts really are (in all fairness, the Bible is equally as wicked, so the Christian texts are no better than the Islamic texts, of course.)

If the word "Hitler" came from words meaning peace, or goodness, or kindness, say, would that make you give Hitler a pass?

Can you answer this question, Margot? I won't ask it three times....
"Can we at least agree that if I gave you a time machine, with the instructions to go back and find out if she was really 9 years-old or not, and that if you found out that she was actually 9 (maybe she wasn't, I wasn't there), that you'd pull Mohammad's writhing body off of her, to prevent rape of a child? Again, no one can prove her age, but can we at least agree that you'd pull Mohammad off of her if you were there and you felt that she was 9 years-old? I know it's hypothetical, but it cuts to the core of the moral issue w/out the bickering about what the Islamic texts way or don't say? Can we at least agree that you'd stop a child rape if given that opportunity? I of course would take it, because I care about children not getting raped. What about you?"

Christians strongly disagree - so of course they don't worship the same god. Thor is as different as Yahweh is to Allah.

Too bad Jesus isn't actually real, and/or doesn't care for us, or of course he (I would have of course) would have come down in the 2000 years (that's a long long time!) and simply educated us, educated us as to which version is right, Protestantism or Catholicism. Would be a real real nice thing to do. But Jesus either isn't real or enjoys watching the world wallow in ignorance about his alleged message. Sounds like a sick SOB if he's real - and if he's not real, then the Pope and about 2.1 billion people are delusional (worshipping a fake invisible man, nothing could be more delusional) - either way they lose.

    Have a great night.

Would have been a great opportunity to remove the parts that approve of slavery and torture, etc. Too bad they weren't smart enough or ethical enough to know to do that. I think my pet pig would, if he could talk, have been smarter than those guys. Unlike Jesus and pals, he opposes torture and slavery - but does have terrible table manners.

    http://www.evilbible.com/?s=slavery

Clearly Jesus approved of torture (Mohammad certainly did, so Jesus is not more compassionate than Mohammad obviously), in this life and the after-life, no less: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/says_about/torture.html

Obviously he's not real or during the Crusades he (I certainly would have, because I care more than Jesus does, obviously) would have told those killing IN HIS NAME to knock it off - at least educate them that peace was the best way, which of course he never did. He's as visible as Bigfoot and Thor and Zeus and Wotan and Yeti and Sauron.

His book was used by slave-owning Southerners to justify the Civil War, because his book approves, yes approves, of slavery, yes, slavery. Incredible. If people used a book about me to justify killing to retain SLAVERY even my pet pig would be moral enough (if he were all-powerful like Jesus) to come down and simply educate, educate his "children" that they got his message all wrong. Instead, he just hoped upon hope that his message would be handed down verbally, over centuries, by anonymous sources, with no alteration/embellishment, accurately.....right. He wasn't even bright enough to say "write this down" before each big speech. My pet pig would be, I'm sure. Ok "write this down after you get me some sweet corn".

Not being able to compete, intellectually, with a pet pig is a big warning sign....one of the reasons I'm a FORMER Christian.

No, no, no! It says that Muslims get 5 star hotels in Paradise, while the rest of us only get 3 star hotels, I'm pretty sure - because they say that Islam is fair and all, and that sounds pretty darned fair to me, I guess. If I just happen to beet lottery-winning odds and I pick the wrong unproven invisible super-friend out of the 5000+ on offer, obviously the penalty should (being fair-minded) be pretty minor....obviously. No, death is ridiculous, no ethical person is that unfair, come on Penrod!

Surprising? No. People with critical thinking skills knew from the start that he would be a disaster for the republicans and for America. Fortunately for him, there's plenty of racist degenerates in this country who identified with his nonsense. Thankfully, fewer each day.

The simple context that he was in a brutal war with is enemies for example? Further, is this the correct translation of the original text? Look only on the many different versions of the bible in all the translations throughout the centuries!
And if you rate acting and thinking of the past with morality of today, then you make the worst mistake in historical science!

You and so many else make a generalization which is more as impudent! How many of the 1.600.000.000 Muslims on this planet follow such things please? So all 1.600.000.000 of them are such evil persons and let them convert into Christians, eh?

    Really?

then explain this speech of Pope Urban II:

"All who die by the way, whether by land or by sea, or in battle against the pagans, shall have immediate remission of sins. This I grant them through the power of God with which I am invested. O what a disgrace if such a despised and base race, which worships demons, should conquer a people which has the faith of omnipotent God and is made glorious with the name of Christ! With what reproaches will the Lord overwhelm us if you do not aid those who, with us, profess the Christian religion! Let those who have been accustomed unjustly to wage private warfare against the faithful now go against the infidels and end with victory this war which should have been begun long ago. Let those who for a long time, have been robbers, now become knights. Let those who have been fighting against their brothers and relatives now fight in a proper way against the barbarians. Let those who have been serving as mercenaries for small pay now obtain the eternal reward. Let those who have been wearing themselves out in both body and soul now work for a double honor. Behold! on this side will be the sorrowful and poor, on that, the rich; on this side, the enemies of the Lord, on that, his friends. Let those who go not put off the journey, but rent their lands and collect money for their expenses; and as soon as winter is over and spring comes, let hem eagerly set out on the way with God as their guide."

It's laughable that people still make this claim, "terror has nothing to do with islam." Even with just a cursory understanding, one easily understands that the history of islam is quite violent and from where this violence was prescribed.

It’s the doublespeak of the Democratic Party that supports him and had him speak at the convention for Hillary.

It is the doublespeak of those trying to keep from fighting a War on Terror against Islamic Nations and other entities that use it, because terrorism is the preferred tactic of some Nations that Democrats want to claim had nothing to do with 9/11:

When the Jihad war started on behalf of Iraq:

August, 1996: "More than 600,000 Iraqi children have died due to lack of food and medicine and as a result of the unjustifiable aggression (sanction) imposed on Iraq and its nation. The children of Iraq are our children. You, the USA, together with the Saudi regime are responsible for the shedding of the blood of these innocent children. Due to all of that, what ever treaty you have with our country is now null and void.
The treaty of Hudaybiyyah was cancelled by the messenger of Allah (Allah's Blessings and Salutations may be on him) once Quraysh had assisted Bani Bakr against Khusa'ah, the allies of the prophet (Allah's Blessings and Salutations may be on him). The prophet (Allah's Blessings and Salutations may be on him) fought Quraysh and concurred Makka. He (Allah's Blessings and Salutations may be on him) considered the treaty with Bani Qainuqa' void because one of their Jews publicly hurt one Muslim woman, one single woman, at the market." (Declaration of War against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Two Holy Places.)

Feelers from those Jihadists, who are now well-known:

March 1997: "Though Bin Ladin had promised Taliban leaders that he would be circumspect, he broke this promise almost immediately, giving an inflammatory interview to CNN in March 1997. The Taliban leader Mullah Omar promptly 'invited' Bin Ladin to move to Kandahar, ostensibly in the interests of Bin Ladin's own security but more likely to situate him where he might be easier to control.73
There is also evidence that around this time Bin Ladin sent out a number of feelers to the Iraqi regime, offering some cooperation. None are reported to have received a significant response. According to one report, Saddam Hussein's efforts at this time to rebuild relations with the Saudis and other Middle Eastern regimes led him to stay clear of Bin Ladin.74" (The 9/11 commission report, page 65-66)

The authorization for use of force (Jihad) for the maneuvers of 9/11:

July 1997, South Movement, "the path of Jihad and proper action": "Those who desire to face up to the Zionists conspiracies, intransigence, and aggressiveness must proceed towards the advance centers of capabilities in the greater Arab homeland and to the centers of the knowledge, honesty and sincerity with whole heartiness if the aim was to implement a serious plan to save others from their dilemma or to rely on those capable centers; well-known for their positions regarding the enemy, to gain precise concessions from it with justified maneuvers even if such centers including Baghdad not in agreement with those concerned, over the objectives and aims of the required maneuvers." (On the 29th anniversary of Iraq's national day (the 17th of July 1968 revolution). President Saddam Hussein made an important comprehensive and nation wide address) http://southmovement.alphalink.com.au/countries/Iraq/speech.htm

The “protracted blockade” mentioned next in the response to the authorization for use of force (Jihad):

February 17, 1998: “While speaking at the Pentagon on February 17, 1998, President Bill Clinton warned of the ‘reckless acts of outlaw nations and an unholy axis of terrorists, drug traffickers and organized international criminals.’ These ‘predators of the twenty-first century,’ he said ‘will be all the more lethal if we allow them to build arsenals of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and missiles to deliver them. We simply cannot allow that to happen. There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein's Iraq.’“ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Desert_Fox http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/02/17/transcripts/clinton.iraq/

The response to the authorization for use of force (Jihad) for the maneuvers of 9/11:

February 23, 1998: “Praise be to Allah, who revealed the Book, controls the clouds, defeats factionalism, and says in His Book: ‘But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)’; and peace be upon our Prophet, Muhammad Bin-'Abdallah, who said: I have been sent with the sword between my hands to ensure that no one but Allah is worshipped, Allah who put my livelihood under the shadow of my spear and who inflicts humiliation and scorn on those who disobey my orders.”
One Iraq, Two Iraq, Three Iraq!

The response of his defense attorney, see South Movement where the authorization for use of force (Jihad) was posted:

September 2001: "Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General...David Muller, South Movement, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia" http://www.workers.org/ww/2001/call1004.php

Here is where he said the attacks of October were against Iraq, the terrorist proxy of Iraq, Al Quacka:

“As we said before to those who launched aggressions on us, including the US, in and before Um-Almarik (the mother of the battles), the world, like Iraq and its Arab nation, needs steadfastness to face the aggression, make it miss its targets. It must not allow the US to be victorious. The victory of the US and its allies over Iraq would conceal the opposing attitude and analysis, and would not allow it to emerge again for a long time.” (Saddam Hussein Shabban 13, 1422 H. October 29, 2001.)

    Further proof of alliance:

“On the basis of what we said about Iraq while confronting aggressions, the world now needs to abort the US aggressive schemes, including its aggression on the Afghan people, which must stop.
Again we say that when someone feels that he is unjustly treated, and no one is repulsing or stopping the injustice inflicted on him, he personally seeks ways and means for lifting that justice. Of course, not everyone is capable of finding the best way for lifting the injustice inflicted on him. People resort to what they think is the best way according to their own ideas, and they are not all capable of reaching out for what is beyond what is available to arrive to the best idea or means.
To find the best way, after having found their way to God and His rights, those who are inflicted by injustice need not to be isolated from their natural milieu, or be ignored deliberately, or as a result of mis-appreciation, by the officials in this milieu. They should, rather, be reassured and helped to save themselves, and their surroundings. It is only normal to say that punishment is a necessity in our world, because what is a necessity in the other world must also be necessary in our world on Earth. But, the punishment in the other world is faire and just, and the prophets and messengers of God (peace be upon them all) conducted punishment and called for it in justice, and not on the basis of suspicions and whims.” (Saddam Hussein Shabban 13, 1422 H. October 29, 2001.)

“Once again, we say that, injustice and the pressure that results from it on people lead to explosions. As explosions are not always organized, it is to be expected that they may harm those who make them and others. The events of September 11, should be seen on this basis, and on the basis of imbalanced reactions, on the part of governments accused of being democratic, if the Americans are sure that these were carried out by people from abroad.
To concentrate not on what is important, but rather on what is the most important, we say again that after having seen that the flames of any fire can expand to cover all the world, it first and foremost, needs justice based on fairness. The best and most sublime expression of this is in what we have learned from what God the Al Mighty ordered to be, or not to be.” (Saddam Hussein Shabban 13, 1422 H. October 29, 2001.)

Who are the magical “they” that Saddam said, “should, rather, be reassured and helped to save themselves, and their surroundings?”

To date no Democrat has ever answered that question with saying Al Qaeda, but one moderate Egyptian Muslim at Debate Politics did. He was not a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood, or Hamas...

A question from a topic I kept up for two years, at Daytona Beach News-Journal, and a response of a Democrat last seen with a Good Bush ((*)(*)(*)(*)(*)) Bad Bush (picture of George) t-shirt, not one Democrat ever condemned the response, and in that topic someone who helped draft the Rome Treaty for the ICC did not either:

"2). Why not go on record as to whether you agree with your ‘liberal‘ comrade that Osama is ‘playing by the rules of warfare?’ What about Hamas and other terrorist groups?

This one, believe it or not is fairly straight forward... Terrorist groups fight with the weapons they have available... Hamas and other groups don't have airplanes, tanks and the like to fight the Israelis... So they use the only weapons avaiable to them.... The problem I have is the killing of innocent people... If they want to blow up the Israeli military.. GO FOR IT!!”

    Why I asked the question:

“terrorism doesnt go away it is a means of conducting war. There is no such thing as a war on terrorism - there can be a war on countries we dont agree with but war on a particular type of war action is silly.” (evryman69)

“If terrorists are so faceless as you say how is it we know and have known who they are? How is it they have told us and continue to tell us who they are - these people have faces and they are playing by the rules of warfare - attack, kill or terrorize the opposition.” (evryman69)

Similar more mainstream Democrat comment, changed for effect, go to the link for actual wording:

“Rape is not an enemy but a technique of warfare -- political intimidation through the selective breeding of unarmed non-combatants.” (Zbigview Brznutski, Obama supporter)
(Terrorized by 'War on Rape' - Washingtonpurplethrobbingpost) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/23/AR2007032301613.html

Islam, like every other religion, is the vehicle through which terrorism is excused and in a way socially acceptable.

    All religions must be eradicated.

What "brutal war" are you talking about? The mythical "battle" that never took place at Tabuk?

Let me tell you about the "context" of Qur'an IX:29, Mandelus. That war verse was cobbled together to incite hatred and war against Christians and Jews over a battle that never happened. There are no Byzantine accounts of the Emperor Heraclius waging any military expeditions in the area of Tabuk when this "battle" allegedly took place.

The context of that verse is inciting war against non-Muslims on a completely fabricated pretext. There was no "brutal war" going on.

I gave you three translations and you can look for more if you like. You'll find that the meaning of that verse and its injunctions are consistent throughout. Language isn't a problem here.

What do you think we're dealing with in regards to nostalgic, anti-modern revivalist jihadist groups such as the Islamic State and al Qaeda who view the contents of the Qur'an as immutable and universal, i.e., unconstrained by the context of 7th Century Arabia? Regardless of whether or not we subscribe to the lie that the Battle of Tabuk happened, Caliph Ibrahim and Ayman al-Zawahiri's death cults don't view the Qur'anic injunction to kill and subjugate non-Muslims as fixed in time and space - they are applicable today and they will remain applicable forever. The same goes with their less violent but equally committed Islamists in groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and Hizb ut-Tahrir. If you read the works of prominent Islamist ideologues such as Sayyid Qutb (ex., Milestones) they'll tell you this themselves.

What generalization have I supposedly made? Please provide the post and quote so we're all clear on what I have and have not said.

Where did I lump every Muslim in with the likes of Caliph Ibrahim's blood cult? The answer is nowhere.

As for the Qur'an, it is what it is. As a Muslim friend of mine in Turkey once said, there is only one Islam. There is no moderate Islam and no radical Islam. The differences are in how Muslims choose to interpret their faith, its paragons (Muhammad, et al), its history and its relationship to the 21st Century world and humanity.

Well, what do you think about the context of a verse, text and ideology that incites war against others based on a fabrication/phony pretext? You thought it was based on some non-existent "brutal war" and now you know better. Is that context worse than you originally thought or not? The question still stands.

What does Pope Urban II have to do with a discussion on Islam and Islamism?

Nothing at all, so don't expect me to entertain that red herring.

Oh, so now you're suddenly not interested in FACTS and REALITY, much less ACCURACY. The bilge you posted is so riddled with omission it's not worth the bandwidth it's posted on.

You really don't have clue what you're talking about, do you?

    The Pact of Umar

I'm incredulous that you think you're competent to have this discussion. You clearly have read nothing about the lives of the Christian and Jewish dhimmis who lived under Islamic rule and law.

I have no idea how much these rulers knew and whether or not they knew more than I do. I live in the Information Age, they did not, but it appears that you know less than all of us.

What an idiotic thing to say. I'm not a fan of Sean Hannity nor do I watch his show.

Heh - there again you would be wrong.

The reality is that I know a lot more about Islam and its history than you do.

In reality, it's ignorant people such as yourself who serve as the Islamic State's useful idiots. The cluelessness, cowardice and slavish devotion to political correctness of "progressives" such as yourself and the ANSWERnik idiot in the White House prevent you all from speaking honestly and openly about that group and its ideology. In the ideological war against the Islamic State, you have ceded the battleground to Caliph Ibrahim's genocidal blood cult. You people are worse than the dhimmis who were subjected to the Islamic protection racket of old. They had an excuse for their servility - you don't.
