I don't particuarly like any religion, so I find both churches and mosques to be disgusting. However Islam is definitely more of a threat than any others.

What do you think my point is? it's foreign money being used to undercut French culture.

What's the issue?? the buildings are old, Christian population is apparently fading, more and more Christians are choosing not to attend church, Islam is flourishing, so they need space, malls are good for the economy, people need a place to live and park, so apartments and parking seem rather reasonable to me. If it's cheaper to tear down the old churches, then it makes fiscal sense to do so. I fail to see the issue here.

Foreign investment is not coercive. "Undercutting" France's culture in this case is simply freedom of religion and freedom of expression. If they own the land, they should be able to build whatever religious nonsense they want. If anyone irrespective of their faith advocates for imminent coercive action, I will denounce them and support their imprisonment. Until then I remain emphatically in favor of liberty for all.

Additionally, Christianity is now a minority religion in France, behind the lack thereof (non-religion = 53% Gallup). Strictly speaking, both churches and mosques stand in opposition to the French majority.

Built between 1868 and 1878, the Saint-Jacques church, Gothic Revival, withstood two world wars and bombings. But the unstable soil, water infiltration and the 2004 storm undermined the building, which collapsed in places. The walls are cracked, the stained glass is punctured, birch grows on the foothills. Earlier this month, during the thaw, stone blocks fell from the church. Immediately, the municipality has taken a measure of imminent danger, evacuated the area and blocked access to the nearby school.

The findings of the expert, which were made public by municipal council on February 7, are clear: the tower and the choir "present a serious imminent danger " and "the collapse may occur at any time." Verdict: "The church will be completely demolished." The cost of the operation is estimated at € 350,000. According to the town hall, the restoration of the church would have cost 10 million euros.

No Chief.

It's an elite group which has taken control over our politicians, which portray themselves as 'our own', as they look much like us, but they aren't.

Since 2000, there have been 22 demolitions of church buildings in France. 268 church buildings are in immediate danger, 17 of which are located in Paris. The OP was taken from an unsubstantiated blog post that wildly exaggerated the figure, while its accounts on a demolished church are quite accurate as I posted above.

- 267 endangered churches (17 in Paris) with 27 new have been reported since January 1, 2013
- 19 churches recently demolished since 2000 in this list which 5 were razed in 2013

Don't people know how to respond to a thread or post without including the video in every post? So obnoxious to read thru the thread when there is so much bandwidth taken up with repeated videos. Just edit them out before submitting your response post...jeez!

It is not a shame. It is a crime against the European civilization.

The French made their great ancestors "turn in their grave".

Which European civilisation?
You might want to read a bit of this too.

I am pretty sure that most people living more than 150 years ago would be turning in their grave at the societies that we have today.
I see that as a good thing. People in the past were violent, stupid and superstitious.

I agree, Rus. It is very sacrilegious. The Gothic churches should be saved at all costs, in my opinion. Besides being relics of our more religious days, they are architectural and engineering marvels.

When the Christian population disappears from the West, where are the Muslims going to run to then; and who will take them in is as protected citizens and refugees, and feed them freebies?

It goes deeper than that in contrary to what you've been told by the MSM...

.. must say I was also quite surprised once finding out and seeing one of the belt-buckles (reading: God with us) out of the 3 million strong Christian army launced as a pre-emptive strike on the godless and tyrannical Soviet Union:

There are many more things than gothic churches to save. We have more than enough of them and our resources should be used to save more important things.

They are nice historical pictures, but it's an opinion/theory by Dennis Wise which gives nothing conclusive.

There were certainly many Christians in Nazi Germany's military, but Hitler was a very cynical atheist with contempt for religion.
