I read this guy's blog because he often talks about the Los Angeles I grew up in. I've never paid attention to his political views until this blog post. He made a posit I never thought of but find quite realistic.

And that is when I had my epiphany. These are not gaffes or slips of the tongue. Trump is deliberately using language that can be construed in the worse possible way in order to generate publicity. With decades of experience at being a celebrity, he has taken to heart the publicist adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity. And in terms of generating publicity, he’s been an outstanding success if you count it by minutes of airtime or lines of copy in print. Certainly there would have been zero media coverage discussing poor decisions by the Obama administration leading to the creation of ISIS without Trump. Getting those issues out there and forcing a hostile media to talk about issues they don’t want to discuss is also a success.

How much is Clinton spending in ads? And her so-called organization that can only get a measly couple of hundred people to her rallies?

Meanwhile, with little organization and almost nothing spent on campaign ads, Trump draws thousands and gets twice or three times the air time of his opponent.

You might have a point if this were actually about talking about issues.

But it's not. It's about getting attention.

And Trump does believe that he needs to be at the center of the spotlight, and does not know how to message with any degree of subtlety.

Making obviously preposterous claims like the one Trump made about ISIS is not discussing issues.

It's baiting the morons, fearmongers and bigots who have always flocked to his campaign.

    This isn't stimulating debate.

    It's buffoonery.

It does not matter that Trump gets lots more air time. He has denigrated and insulted the people he counts on to carry his message. So they have no reason to be loyal to him.

    Ratings don't equal votes.

Trump won the GOP nomination not by winning a majority. He won by plurality, the lowest plurality of any GOP primary candidate in history.

It is becoming very clear that the coalition he assembled, Sarah Palin types, ex tea partiers, bigots and angry old white man of many stripes is the limit of his universe.

No, there are no gaffes or slips of the tongue. Trump's rhetoric is perfect pitch Archie Bunker. He knows exactly who he is talking to and exactly how to control the red meat flow.

His campaign has brought out and represented the worst in American political culture. The deliberate and defiant ignorance, the rididual bigotry, the fear of anything new or foreign.

Trump supporters represent the ugliest of ugly Americans.

Ridiculous article. Anyone who thinks Trump's antics are helping his presidential bid is out to lunch.

I think he's doing it intentionally but not sure where the brilliance comes in.

The problem is he is stepping all over Hillarys bad stuff. She is or was under FBI investigation and she lies almost everyday about the emails

    That's not what it says.

"However in politics, that isn’t reflected in the polls. Kanye West is great at generating publicity for him, but at the cost of it being almost uniformly bad publicity. This may be a great strategy for getting on Page 6, but it’s a terrible one if your goal is to win a general election. So my reason for not making a prediction on the election earlier was because I thought that Trump could easily fix his problems; stop attacking other Republicans, stick to prepared speeches and stump speeches, ease off twitter, and his polling would go back up because after all, people really don’t like Hillary Clinton and would love for an excuse not to vote for her. But Trump thinks that generating unfavorable publicity is the ticket to success, and as long as he both thinks and acts like it is, Hillary Clinton is the next President."

Dammit..... you did not leave me stuff to add on. I could perhaps pound on how Trump has no POLITICAL experience, legal, ecomomic.. even moral. Real trainwreck on the Circle-Jerk express.

Out of all the crazy stuff he's done, from encouraging foreign enemies to commit espionage on this country, to allow the right to choose the race of your judge, to take up arms against Hillary if she chooses a SC Judge, to calling our military a disgrace... this is one of the craziest. I mean freedom of the press is one of the fundamental rights of our country that prevents wannabe dictators like Trump from preventing free speech. It's absolutely crazy how any "conservative" or "constitutionalists" can support Trump after these comments. They're insane.

??? Aren't you supporting the candidate who on the very same day of declaring her candidacy stated she wanted a constitutional amendment to amend the First Amendment?

Brilliant? I guess that depends on what your definition of "brilliant".

Is if it means losing in a spectacular way, then yes, he's positively brilliant.
I he's trying to depress the GOP downballot races and fundraising, again brilliant.

However, he should have comprehended by now that the same shtick that he used to bring the racists and nationalists on board the Trump Train just isn't working with the general population.

LMFAO!!! Are you really talking about the Citizens United decision in terms of the first amendment? Haha, I knew it was going to be something really dumb. I guess that's comparable to freedom of the press. Lol.

She's talking about a constitutional amendment to amend the first amendment that was about...Bueller? Bueller?

It was about showing a movie on Direct TV that criticized...Hillary Clinton. It's a First Amendment issue and you're on the wrong side of it.

What is she trying to amend about the first amendment? Use your words, don't just post some link about Citizens United and expect us to understand what you're saying, lol.

I've already used my words, and you've used your words to show that you are totally uneducated on this topic and apparently didn't even know this was one of Hillary's first campaign promises.

Use your words like a grown up and tell me exactly what it is she wants to amend about the 1st amendment? And you didn't use your words, you posted a link where the first couple paragraphs were about Citizens United. Man up. I'll tell you exactly what Trump wants to stop... Freedom of the Press. Your turn.

You found a link? Very proud of you. Good first step for a Trump supporter.
