    This doesn't surprise me.

Western Leftists have been aligning themselves with Islamists against Western Right-wingers for some time now, and that situation isn't confined to Europe and the EU. We've seen the same thing here in the United States.

The alliance between "progressives" and Islamists in America was cemented after the invasion of Iraq in 2003. During that time, the "anti-war" Left joined with Muslim Brotherhood legacy groups such as the Muslim American Society (MAS) to oppose the Bush Administration's war effort against Saddam Hussein's Baathists, al Qaeda and the Shi'a militias and "special groups" that were backed and/or run by Tehran.

Not surprisingly, the "principles" of this "anti-war" alliance between Leftists and Islamists went up in smoke after one of their own, Barack Obama, became president. Not only did they go silent, many of them - most notably Obama - led the charge to war in Libya and Syria and backed the Muslim Brotherhood instead of the Egyptian people after they called on their compatriots in the military to drive the Ikhwan from power.

This alliance, which some on the Right humorously refer to as the "watermelon" alliance (because it is green and red) still exists today, and it's done a successful job of paralyzing America's fight against jihadist groups such as the Islamic State who are actively waging war against our country and killing our citizens.

To make matters worse, the political correctness of the "Progressive"-Islamist alliance has made ordinary Americans reluctant to notify the authorities of any suspicious activity committed by people associated with or inspired by the Islamic State out of fear of being tarred an Islamophobe or a racist. This reluctance to notify the authorities enabled the shooters in the San Bernadino massacre to kill 14 people and wound 22 others because one of their neighbors was afraid to report their suspicious activity to the police.

It is ironic how high-minded Western "liberals" have aligned themselves with illiberal Islamists, and we've seen the harmful consequences of that from my country to your country and beyond.

Most of the Persians I know share your attitude toward Arab Islamic extremists, but then many Arabs also share your view.

Most Muslims are very afraid of the fanatics and want to see them crushed.

From the outside looking in, it appears that Putin has agreed to sacrifice the Kurds so that greater goals might be achieved.

Can they actually defeat ISIS? I hope so.

I don't think that has anything to do with Russians. The Syrian Kurds are under the U.S control, not Russian control. I believe that the U.S will throw Syrian Kurds under the bus in order to patch up the relationship with Turkey. The U.S sponsored coup failed and the Turks finally realised that Obama's administration isn't to be trusted.

By the way, Biden has been literally humiliated.

Turkey fights against Kurds. This is endless story. It's like rain. You may protest against rain, probably. But sometimes you just have to accept some thing as they are.

"Aligning themselves with terrorists"? Are you kidding me?

Do you hear yourself and how insane such proclamations are? Do you?

Do you think other people believe such unmitigated garbage?

The Russians do not take sides, but try to bring people together ...or at least that's what I have noticed. They are not against the Kurds, but against Washington in trying to create a Kurdish state with a pipeline running from Iraq to the Mediterranean so they can control and cut into Russia's profits.

I'm sure Putin was aware of the invasion, but I don't know what his thoughts are on it. I know that he said peace can not be achieved in Syria unless the Kurds are invited to attend the meeting. Turkey though has always objected. Maybe there is an agreement that if Turkey is allowed to go into Syria to free the city, that maybe the Kurds can attend the next meeting.

I'm just guessing here. I really have no idea what's going on.

Nothing ... Nothing significant will change in relation to foreign policy under Trump either.

It is the establishment (Octopus as you put it - I call it the Oligopoly-Bureaucracy Fusion Monster) that controls the President and not the reverse.

Cluster bombs are known to bring people together, usually in shelters.
