Bork was never going to sit on the Supreme Court. He was the last man standing the Nixon could find to execute the imfamous "Saturday Night Massacre".

    Five days later, Nixon resigned.

Sorry, but he'll never appoint a wild-eyed liberal.

What will happen is that he'll appoint a moderate Republican or centrist with SUCH an impeccable record that the American people won't put up with intransigent teahadists.

    30%-ers don't rule the country.

Based on what - a Fox News poll?

NBC/WSJ, CBS polls: Americans tied on timing of SCOTUS appointment
    http://hotair.com/archives/2016/02/...ericans-tied-on-timing-of-scotus-appointment/

Obama isn't standing on high ground and he knows it. Just the other day he had to feign regret over his obstruction of Justice Alito's nomination.

Let me tell ya about the high ground me and my fellow Righties are standing on - it's a towering mountain of

Americans also wanted to keep their doctors and their plans, so they are used to disappointment by now.

But most Americans did keep their doctors and their plans.

Obamacare only affected about 15 million people, and for most of them, things got a lot better.

I'd be fine with them being the obstructionist dbags they are under one condition. When the new democrat takes over the white house, they get to appoint whomever they feel like. Ya know, since the people will have spoken.

Because most people are children politically. It's vital to wait until 2017 so that we can get a truly bipartisan judge confirmed. We don't trust Obama with this pick, Obama has done nothing to show us that he's worthy of this pick. Of course, the children want it NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Just like they want everything now.

But politics, and the correct path in history tells us the nominee should be from a new Administration. The thing about these polls is that they NEVER ask me lol. I don't trust Hillary with this pick. In fact, I fear Hillary more than Obama.

If I had a choice between Hillary and Obama, I'd confirm whoever Obama picked within reason.

I think it'll be next to impossible to find another Scalia, but very easy to find another Kagan, Sotomoyer or heaven forbid Obama(Clinton's statement.). Given how easy it is, and how little political will Obama has to go elsewhere, waiting until 2017 is the fairest thing for the Nation.

Do you think a Court, in which Lady Liberty is supposed to be blind should "lean" Left or Right? I'm of the personal opinion that the Court must remain pure from a juristic perspective. Insofar as that's no longer available to us through the Court's politicization, the closest thing is an even divide between Liberal and Conservative views on the Court.

And so, it's only natural that a conservative replaces Scalia. Just as a liberal would replace Ginsburg. But I don't trust Barack Obama with this pick. Because frankly, he's never viewed the legacy of US Politics in anything but his own lens. You and I both know Obama's going to go far left. He would've done so, even if McConnell didn't say anything.

Because that's who he is, who he always has been.

Come on AN, lets keep it real do you really believe if a Republican was the sitting President and Ginsburg were to pass away he would nominate a Liberal judge.

With that said there is no guarantee the next president will be a Republican.

Are you seriously saying that if the next President is a Republican and Ginsburg retires or dies, that you expect that Republican President to nominate a liberal to replace her?

I'm an independent, but I would certainly expect any President to nominate someone qualified for the job and closely aligned with similar ideology. That's what you're counting on happening in November, isn't it… elections having consequences? Isn't it that very idea the reason you don't want Obama to nominate someone to replace Scalia?

That depends on the Republican in question. Sure, some might be as partisan as the current President. But if that Republican were sincere about the Court's legacy and the legacy of law and order, he would have replaced Ginsburg with a Liberal. Perhaps one that leans a bit closer to the right than most, but a Liberal nevertheless.

I wish we didn't have to take into qualification the political leanings of a Justice, but this position is unlike any other sitting Court in that its wholly political. Again, blame FDR for that. I can only deal with the reality we have right now, and the reality is that the Court needs to remain neutral and the best way to do that, is to have a moderate replacement for Scalia. Not Obama's opportunity to "radically change the court".

President Obama is the sitting president and unfortunately for Republicans Scalia didn't wait until one was elected to die. Pres. Obama has an obligation and a duty to do and if those in Congress don't like his nomination then they have the power to either block it or make the nomination that is how the process works.
