Just like the horse and buggy, thing become obsolete and you move on to the next thing.

Don't re-open coal mines. Send those people some Samsonite and U-Hauls and let them move to where jobs are. Duh.

There is nothing obsolete about coal, as an energy used around the world. What's obsolete are the regulations to operate coal mining, by politically minded idiots. Send your u-hauls to Washington DC and let them go where liberalism mentality is acceptable.

I don't know much about coal mining other than living in the company store and the private armies paid for by the mining companies.

What is the difference between hard coal and soft coal?

Coal is no longer needed in developed nations. It's dirty and highly polluting. There's no such thing as "clean coal".

It's interesting that the same people who are complaining about coal's run as a power source winding down are the ones who called to "DRILL BABY! DRILL!" leading to a glut of energy options OTHER THAN COALand a decline in prices.

Coal is dirty. Nobody wants it.

Well except that all primary iron production uses coal and 40% of the world's electricity is provided by coal. But certainly you should quit using air conditioning, as I have.

You should be Hillary Clinton's spoke's person because the sneering belittling messages - often obscene and intensely hateful of almost everyone - that you post on the forum is how she really feels about ordinary Americans. To understand Hillary Clinton's real self a person only need read your messages. Of course, to her people like you in your messages are just so much dirt under her feet. Even her own campaign manager in leaked emails said that she intensely dislikes ordinary, regular people.

Sorry. As long as liberals are active here in the US, we are going to keep burning coal.

Wind and solar and efficiency can all help, but they alone are not going to be enough to power the US.

We could fill the gap with nuclear power, but liberals will not allow that.

We could fill the gap with fracked natural gas transported through pipelines, but liberals will not allow that.

So we are going to continue to burn lots of coal.

If liberals force people to use electric cars in the future, that is going to mean even more coal yet burnt to generate electricity.

Don't think the American people are just going to accept routine blackouts (or whatever other sort of hell the liberals envision inflicting on the nation to make us use less power). The American people are going to demand enough electricity to run their lives and they are going to get it.

And that means coal has a bright future in the US.
