look I'm all for reforming pensions, but when someone was promised something I believe in upholding that agreement, even if its crummy politicians who did it for votes, we shouldn't punish the employees for irresponsible elected leaders...

this is why I demand pensions, turn into contributions to 401k/IRA's for government employees, instead of pensions... I'm okay if the contributions seem overly generous, as long as its not the government allowing these folks to retire by age 50 with full benefits and healthcare for the next 40 years... let them have a 401k, and if they decide at age 50 they made enough and saved enough, let them retire and start withdrawing, since you can begin distributions of a 401k at age 50 if you declare retirement... but we need to move away from pensions completely...

taxpayers get screwed when they are underfunded, the pension holders get screwed when they are underfunded, and eventually cities begin to collapse and all the public owned facilities such as art museums, are suddenly on a potential auction block and you could see major cities like chicago, lose everything they've built up the past couple hundred years... pensions and crummy politicians are horrible for america... and I think it'll be easier to change pensions into 401k's more than I think it'll be to change crummy politicians into good ones... take away their power to abuse it...

Wonder how many school children or families that need food that $1.3million could have fed for the next couple months?

Wonder how many, at the very least, sleeping bags, this could have bought for homeless to help battle the upcoming winter? And then again how many people this could have housed to escape the cold?

Oh no wait, those people are not important...... making tax payers fund illegal aliens lawyers is what's more important. Wanna bet the mayor is good friends with the lawyers that will be "bought and paid" for?

Their Unions put up millions of dollars to get crummy politicians elected. They also rolled the dice and elected those crummy politicians. What happens to their ill gotten pensions is of little concern to me, they should choose better politicians next time.

absolutely they should choose better politicians next time... but keep in mind, not ALL of them voted for their unions leaders, nor the politicians... and thats the consideration you must approach this with, many of them want better politicians and better union leaders, but the minority gets silenced, and now they get punished for the actions of others... while I understand your rage on the surface, I don't think you understand the consequences below it... you just are so ready to condemn and punish all who oppose your way of thinking, that you don't realize you would be punishing many who agree with you, but they were silenced by the majority... if you now punish those who agree with you, you might find yourself in a situation like the democrats today, where even those who agree with you, are now turning on you because you punished them...

revenge never improves life, it just encourages more mistakes...

Proof Chiraq hasn't a pot to (*)(*)(*)(*) in anymore! A whole million, for legal funding? Damn how many is that going to pay for, two maybe three undocumented tops? Pretty sad when Chiraq lawyers are working for $12.25 an hour ;)

Not revenge, just reality. In real life not everyone gets a trophy. Many times bad things happen to good people. My Dad always used to say, "the only thing "fair" about life is the "fare" you drop in the box to ride the bus.

well just to destroy your analogy and show how wrong your way of thinking was... whats fair about that fare? its subsidized, does everyone driving a car next to you get that subsidy in the same way? that fare could be much less expensive if those government employees weren't paid well beyond what the private sector pays for that type of work, same thing with those who clean the bus, maintain the bus, and manage it all... whats fair about what when some folks riding that bus, are getting fares at different rates? why should the elderly pay less, or the handicap, or anyone with a disability? why shouldn't they pay the same fair fare that you pay... should I keep going on about how unfair your fare really is?

and the ironic part is... YOU want to make the fare more unfair, for those who fairly got employed, and earned something they were promised, now when they want to get off the bus (to extend your analogy more) you want to change some of them money to get off the bus, while all those who got off the bus before them, didn't have to pay that extra money to get off the bus... you see how unfair your "fair fare" really is when we apply YOUR logic...

P.S. so you're right, not everyone gets a trophy, but all you're doing is coming and taking trophys from people who won them long ago, because you're upset they took first place and you're still sitting in last... don't penalize them for winning and you losing... punish the people who set the rules, not those who played by them... how about that 401k you have, what if we change the rules the day before you retire, and say that all contributions to it, should have been taxed, so we're going to levy a tax on you, before you get to withdraw any of it, and suddenly it shrinks to half its size... is that a fair fare?
