So the Democrats are pushing a "Fake" news is bad narrative lately. Some top internet media companies of course are getting on board with this and claiming they will patrol for "fake" news and cut it.

So what is "fake" news? How can one person, company, or algorithm determine that?

Are there now "approved" for viewing news channels and/or networks and if so who decides what news channels and/or networks are credible?

There is a topic going on right now about Aleppo where people are decrying the sources as illegitimate....."fake" in other words. So what are credible sources?

We are in a time where there is not one single news source that can claim 100% truth told every day, so who do you believe. Do you believe someone that is supposedly there as a witness, even though the Michael Brown cased shown how credible "eye witnesses" can be.

Not everything can be trusted that is on the news or any source, but how would you know and is there one source that both sides can agree on is trustworthy?

Fake news is something someone claims is a fact when it's merely something s/he hopes for and wants to see - Trump being a racist was fake news but those delivering that message wanted it to be true.

The DNC colluding with Hillary Clinton to deny Bernie Sanders the nomination.

CNN providing debate questions to Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders.

Oh wait... those were actually real news.

Fake news is anything that comes from the left wing nut media.

We all know it's all they got besides fake racism.

It's simple: fake news is a story that isn't true, but is embraced and believed by partisan listeners and viewers because it confirms a belief they already hold.

Fake news was once conspiracy theory held by people on the fringe. Unfortunately people have become so poisoned against professional reporters of the news that they have gone completely berserk and started believing whatever they read in a mass email or posted on the Internet - as long as it confirms their presupposed bias.

I believe the only way to fix it is for those who keep swallowing falsehoods to suffer the consequences of the actions they take based on lies. Propaganda will keep them in the dark for awhile, but you can't escape the fruits of bad decisions forever.

Details? Because when she was pressed on it she had nothing.

If it were true like what Donna Brazille did I would denounce him. So some proof like an email would be sufficient.

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly has denied that her upcoming memoir suggests Donald Trump was tipped about specific contents of a question she planned to ask him during the first Republican primary debate last year.

Kelly’s response, in a tweet posted late Thursday, sought to clarify a passage noted by the New York Times in an advance review of the book, “Settle for More.” The review said Kelly wrote that Fox News executives told Trump that Kelly’s first question would be “very pointed” and directed at Trump.

Kelly’s tweet appeared aimed at countering the idea that Trump was given specifics about the question — which was about Trump’s history of making demeaning comments about women. The moment produced one of the most famous exchanges of the presidential campaign and plunged Kelly into a long-running, if one-sided, feud with the man who was elected president Tuesday.

Kelly tweeted: “For the record, my book ‘Settle for More’ does not suggest Trump had any debate Qs in advance, nor do I believe that he did.”

But if the question — or its general tone — was leaked in advance of the debate, it would suggest Trump had time to prepare his response, giving him an advantage over his Republican rivals. It would also parallel the disclosure that Donna Brazile, then a CNN commentator and the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, leaked debate topics to Hillary Clinton’s campaign before Democratic debates.

If you're gonna tell me he didn't have an advantage over the other republicans in the debate you'll be lying.

Well I was hoping for some from the left side of the isle, but I see so far there are no takers. I was hoping to compile a comprehensive list of "news" sites that were deemed acceptable for quotation. I figured there would be none on the list since they have all outright lied or bent the truth a little somewhere.

If the people that call themselves reporters and the companies that higher them do not stop peddling falsehoods and pandering to one side or the other we are doomed to failure. So many people are living in their own little bubble and eventually no one will listen to reason because the people and news in their bubble tells them it's all lies.

"Fake news" is just a new popular generic term for "yellow journalism," aka; clickbait, propaganda, disinformation and tabloid journalism. It has been around since the printing press, in one form or another. It is practiced by governments, religions, politicians, corporations and special interest groups. Everyone does it.

You just proved your previous claim untrue. There as no specific question. No source.

Not surprising but there was no "Fake News" under Wikipedia until November 16th after the general election.

It's just another word or phrase the progressives made up to further their leftist political agenda.

    It's like the phrase "alt-right."

I never heard of the "alt-right" until the Hillary camp and DNC first coined the phrase "alt-right" in late January of 2016.

Well that's when Wikipedia entered "alt-right" on Wikipedia. -> https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Alt-right&dir=prev&action=history

Name Steven Glass ring any bells for you? Sorry so called professional reporters are as prone to revel in fake news as much as anyone else, There was the Duke lacrosse Rape case on which accountseveral young men were thrown out of the university even though the alleged rape never happened.

Brazile did not leak topics but actual questions. Note a warning that you are going to get some pointed questions is of no help in your reparations since you ought to expect such any way.

No other republicans got hints thus trump had the advantage

    - - - Updated - - -

You'd have a point if fox hinted to other republicans. But they didn't. Fox showed favour to trump over the rest. You can't argue that.

This post is an example of the dissemination of fake news. The term 'alt right' was coined by and credited to Richard Spencer, presumably because 'nazi saluting fascist dickhead' wasn't quite safe space enough for his cosseted white ass.

Generally speaking, it's all fake news. The insulting thing is that some outlets act like they have the credibility to call others fake. But it's everywhere. They all just follow a script. Often, that script is as simple as "oh look, a squirrel" as a distraction from news while posing as news. But the MSM is all on board, all just reading the script.

When facts are deliberately edited and re-framed to manipulate the political beliefs - that's fake news. Humphrey Bogart, in the movie Casablanca, never said "Play it again Sam". Yet everyone thinks he did. Why? Trump never said "all Mexicans are murderers and rapists". He was clearly, in the context of his speech, referring (albeit clumsily) to murderers and rapists coming in illegally across the border. If anyone listened to the speech in its entirety instead of the truncated soundbite put out by MSM, it would have been obvious. Furthermore, what he said is a fact. Yet the MSM picked out the two words, "murders" and "rapists" and re-framed it to make it sound racist. That was a deliberate miscarriage of truth: fake news.

If Abraham Lincoln were giving the Gettysburg Address, the MSM would pull out the word "score" and run it in a loop accusing Lincoln of being a drug dealer. That's fake news.

The Russians hacked and affected the election is fake news. Until we have facts laid out for us by the FBI and CIA - it's just being used as an excuse for Hillary losing the election.

Bad journalism has been around since the printing press was invented. But George Orwell described in his book, 1984, how an authoritarian government can brainwash the people. The main character rewrote old news in order for the government to show improvement in this or that.

That's where the mainstream media is TRYING to take us, if we let them. The "Forth Estate" is supposed to question power, not the people.

The only people who go to neo-Nazi websites like StormFront are progressives and while 99.9% of conservatives and America's middle class deplorables never heard of Richard Spencer or the "alt-right" until Hillary and the MSM who were in collusion with the Hillary campaign and the DNC informed us of the alt-right.

FYI: It's the Bellamy salute not the Nazi salute. Hitler and the Nationalist Socialist stole the salute from American socialist. American leftist socialist have been using the salute going back to the 1890's. -> http://forgottenhistoryblog.com/the-official-american-flag-salute-used-to-be-a-hitler-salute/
