Donald Trump’s fanbase has no actual ideology, just a nihilistic hatred of liberals

Iowa will probably be one of the first states to suffer if trump goes ahead with his trade war against China. China said they would target the red states. Better stock up on water and beans while you can before you get what you deserve.

 

Do you take the time to actually think about what you say before you post it? Trump want's to keep jobs here in America and get better trade deals to help out our country. How is this a bad thing? China is not going to start a war with us over trade deals. That is the most crazy thing I have read today. China has many reasons not to go to war with us.

Show me how many wars have been started in the past between countries because of trade deals?

 

So how is Trump hatemongering? Is it because he wants to deport illegal immigrants breaking the law or drain the swamp of the corrupt American people? Or maybe it's because Obama says he is racist and accepted an endorsement from the KKK. Yeah that was false. I have yet to see any evidence he is a hatemonger. China said the consequences to all 2 and 3 will lead to economic retaliatory measures aimed at the red states. 2 & 3 are campaign promises and don't need to pass through congress to do it.

For many conservatives, far more compelling, and way more rational than your hatred theory, the looming SCOTUS appointment is why we supported our GOP nominee. Truthfully, I could have suffered under HRC for 4 yrs. but her potential influence of the SCOTUS was too dire to concede. Someone has to watch the watchers, and HRC's tenticles already reached to far ... but hatred, go with that.

 

Why would someone be surprised that people have actual negative feelings towards "progressives"? For decades, "progressives" have called everyone else names - racist, homophobe, astroturf, deplorable, xenophobes, illiterate, and of course clingers to guns and religion. "progressives" have rolled over huge swaths of people, bypassing the rule of law and the peoples representatives to impose unwanted regulations and diktats, used the regulatory agencies to destroy people for political gain.

"progressives" hate people, they enact their hate at every opportunity, so of course people respond with hatred of "progressives". The progs are reaping what they have sown.

 

Trump supporters fell in love with his persona. Political ideology or philosophy needn't apply. Perhaps Trump supporters do hate liberals, but they also made war on conservatives. Here's is one article about it.

Traditional conservatives of the Republican Party to them represent the establishment and thus are no good. Conservatives are the only faction or group of the Republican Party that didn't vote for Trump, they went to Cruz during the primaries. There have been many posts on this site from Trump supporters calling Trump a populist, a nationalist or even a nativist. But they rarely call him a conservative. It was also conservatives within the GOP that started the never Trump movement, which went nowhere. So Trump supporters have no love for conservatives either.

Actually if one checks out Trumps long held political views, he is more in tuned with the Democratic Party than the GOP. Although he changed some to run for the presidency as a Republican. Thus I am waiting until Trump becomes president to see if he sticks by his new political views since his announcement or reverts back to his more liberal views he held prior to announcing his run.

Hate works both ways, especially on this site. Clinton supporters show their hate for Trump and his supporters all the time as Trump supporters show their hate for Clinton. Then there are those of us who really disliked both candidates. It's not that I hated Trump or Clinton or even disliked them as individuals, I just hated the idea of either on occupying the White House and my vote showed that.

 

Peoples dislike of Liberals is absolutely justified.

Liberals may have once been the group of tolerance and just "looking out for the little guy". But they have completely gone radical, to the point they are now a racist anti white group that takes goes out of its way to find a new issue to be angry about and have their faux outrage. They scream, yell, assault, and just act like straight up children to anyone who disagrees with them and have overused the words racist and bigot to the point that they really dont have the same sting anymore. They support terrorist groups like BLM simply because it is a group of minorities, even though their narrative has been proven objectively false time and time again. They support letting transgenders use any bathroom they want, despite how obviously exploitable that is. They scream racist to anyone who wants legal/vetted immigration. They support criminals over police, even though statistically police are still very much the good guys. Their arguments very rarely have any rational or logical basis anymore and are almost completely driven by strong emotion, and a need to "win".

Just as soon as they go back to actually being the party of tolerance, reason, logic, and all things great. They will have my participation. But as it stands right now, they are everything but reasonable, logical, or tolerant.

 

Maybe China is a currency manipulator and nothing you stated proves China will enter a trade war with us. A lot of things are said but rarely does anything come from them.

Oh please. Trump went after Mexican immigrants and the entire religion of Islam. He belittled John McCain's military service, attacked a Gold Star family, and shamed sexual assault victims. He retweeted anti-black screeds from white supremacist groups and mocked a reporter's physical disability. He attacked a judge because of his parents' ethnicity.
And now he has named one of the racist alt-right's loudest media voices to be his chief adviser and named an Attorney General who was rejected as too racist to be a judge.
Trump has a long personal history of racism and misogyny, and he had no problem pandering to xenophobes, misogynists, and racists. No surprise that his "victory" brought out a backlash.

You call it hatemongering, I call it enforcing the law. Protecting our borders from invasion is the law and a primary function of the federal government. Just because you won't call them illegals, doesn't mean that they are not...They broke the law by jumping the border and that makes Trump a racist in your eyes. Obama has sent directive after executive orders to hamper the border patrol from doing their jobs, applauding sanctuary cities and basically ignoring his oath of office to protect and defend.
Also, calling for proper background checks of asylum seekers from countries that are known terrorist producers is called common sense...not racism or hate mongering.

 

I find that projection is present in just about all politics. This article is a good demonstration of this.

As a prior FDR democrat I agree with most of what you wrote. I see the modern left as an irrational aberration of liberalism. It isn't the liberalism of my parents and grand parents, who were FDR democrats. It's an absurd caricature from some people disconnected from reality. On the social side. But on the economy they are neoliberal just like the GOP, and have been since Clinton.

I come from a long family history of Democrat voters. Jim Webb was someone I could have fully gotten behind.

The Democrat party of today are the equivalent of the Bolsheviks, and rational people want nothing to do with what it has become.

Well I guess but frankly I'd prefer a party of the left that could examine it's own faults rationally rather than blindly falling in the same trap they've been running into for the last 20 years. Bill Clinton won by running as a moderate he then had to actually become one after the reps one the house for the first time since the Great Depression. He won his second Term only because the Reps nominated the lamentable Bob Dole for president. Note Bob Dole is the guy whom Newt Gingrich once referred to as the tax collector for LBJ's Great Society and one of the last living members of the old Republican left - also known as the Rockefeller wing - not named Bush.

 

And, Wallace was a Democrat, don't forget that.
