1. it's cute you think those things are remotely comparable. 2. This isn't about that. 3. I never said anything about that. This is straight out of the lefty playbook. Can't respond so bring up some random topic to try to justify yourself. Bottom Line: The dems who are boycotting own this, nobody else is to blame but them and you can't even attempt to defend them on this.
That's right; he won't be able to do anything until Monday morning since after all the stress and strain of being sworn in, he's going on vacation for the next two days all at taxpayer expense. pathetic.
Yes, they own it.... and its a VERY risky political gamble for any member of congress to boycott. I'm sure many of them received a tremendous amount of pressure to do so, and i'm guessing a hefty amount of that pressure came from their big money donors. I suggest that its high risk because If he self destructs then the gamble pays off but IMO you can accomplish the same goal with whatever statements you may have made about being non supportive or and still receive the political payoff when re-election draws near without putting yourself on a hit list with the new POTUS. If I was in their shoes and knew the behind the scenes activity then maybe their actions make sense to them and their particular constituents so although i'm not in support of a boycott, I guess if i'm looking it through their eyes then I can at least understand the POV. If Trump doesn't self destruct the Democrat's are going to take a massive hit in 2018 because voters will be reminded of this. . With that said, curious just how many of those boycotting have situations like John Lewis who is now 76 and is likely serving his last term anyway (I sure as hell know i'd hang up the spurs at age 82) then hand it over to another democrat who will run virtually unopposed in their district or state so they literally have no fears of losing their seat on re-election to a republican or independent. In Lewis's case its not really a question of whether or not a democrat will retain his seat, just a question of which one.
You have less faith in his work ethic than I do, I'm not a fan but I can say without reservation that he has outworked me 364 days out of 365 over the past year and i'm 20 years younger.
When I was in college I remember this guy throwing what he claimed would be a great party. I didn't go because I could just imagine what a lowbrow party it would be. I didn't boycott his party, I simply didn't go. The OP says "boycott" but is that true and accurate? Can't tell as no link was provided in violation of rule 11.
If the Democrats really felt that strongly about Trumps Presidency being illegitimate, why aren't they resigning instead? "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. Macbeth Act 5, scene 5, 1928 60 House Democrats need to show up Monday morning and hand in their respective resignations. If they don't then there is no reason to even listen to what they have to say.
Can't unite those who are unwilling. And the left is extremely radical, to expect them to unite is a pipe dream.
Boycott it's undoubtedly is; if you recall, all of Libs started to join in Lewis Teh civil rights leader, after he announced, he's boycotting inauguration.
What I'm reading between the lines is, "dear Liberal G*d, please keep Trump out of Oval Office at least till Monday
What I find interesting is some (not all, not a lot, only some) of the anti-trump protestors have their faces covered. I wonder why?
Remember this? Republicans to skip Obama inaugural, head out of town http://www.capitolhillblue.com/node/46068 For many Republicans, this is a good weekend to get away from it all. With hundreds of thousands of Democrats traveling to nation’s capital for President Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremonies, Republicans and supporters of last fall’s GOP presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, are leaving town for sunny vacation destinations and company conferences or staying indoors and avoiding the crowds. After failing to recapture the White House for a second straight presidential election, many are not exactly in a partying mood. “It’s a good time to lay low,” said John Feehery, the president of Quinn Gillespie Communications and a former top congressional aide. As Democrats prepare to mark Obama’s second inauguration on Monday by bundling up along the parade route or donning party gowns or tuxedos, Republicans are spending the long Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend with quick vacation getaways, quiet time at home or trips to the movie theater. Few plan any “mourning parties” or “bawls” that have been the staples of past inaugural festivities for the party out of power. But invites to pricey balls and swanky soirees tend to be scarce if your candidate lost and watching television provides a constant reminder of November’s elections. “Invitations must have gotten lost in the mail!” former Romney adviser Ed Gillespie wrote in an email saying he had no major plans for the weekend. Charlie Spies, an attorney and co-founder of the pro-Romney super PAC called Restore Our Future, was in Las Vegas for the weekend, hosting about 100 Republicans, including some former Romney campaign aides, at events in the Wynn Las Vegas and Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Spies held a similar gathering for about 20 friends and associates four years ago but said he was surprised by the amount of interest this time. “I was expecting more than 20 but no place near this response,” he said. “But I think people were excited to have an opportunity to be someplace other than D.C. and let President Obama and his supporters have their day in the sun.” Ron Bonjean, a former Bush administration and congressional aide who runs a public affairs firm, convened a small work retreat at a resort in Mexico and said he planned to use the time to prepare for new challenges in 2013. “It’s the perfect time for us to be productive and focused on the year ahead while Washington is consumed with swearing in the president,” he said. Republicans will be part of the inauguration ceremony, with members of Congress gathered on the west front steps of the Capitol for Obama’s swearing-in. Many Republican lawmakers are attending state balls during the weekend to welcome their constituents. Some Republican leaders — including House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and House Armed Services Chairman Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Calif. — planned to attend an inauguration-related ball on Sunday night honoring members of the military. The bipartisan event includes a performance by Lynyrd Skynyrd, the rock band that canceled its show at last summer’s Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., because of Tropical Storm Isaac. After the parties end, the work to win back the White House begins. The Republican National Committee is holding its winter meeting in Charlotte, N.C., next week. A major topic of discussion will be finding ways to reach out to minority voters and win elections. Next weekend, a robust lineup of Republican luminaries, including Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Romney’s running mate, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, will address conservatives at a conference organized by the National Review Institute. For Republicans, this is a season of introspection and planning for the future. “When you’re winning, you’re thinking about the possibilities. When you lose, you’re thinking about what went wrong,” Feehery said. “When you’re winning, you’re thinking about your next job. When you lose, you’re thinking about keeping your job.”
People who do that very often are agent provocateurs hired by the government or some empowered group. This enables them to hide their identity as they throw rocks, burn cars, or cause violence - then when the cops come around, they flee into the crowd, flash their ID and are allowed to escape. There are many videos of these occurrences on youtube.
The Haters cant bring themselves to go to the inauguration..no surprise, they cry like babies when they dont get their way...
Quite true. Also, they may be chicken-(*)(*)(*)(*) cowards, brave enough to cause trouble, but not brave enough to show their faces.
The GOP set out to make sure Obama was a one term president and proceeded to block every single thing including bills they wrote and sponsored ! Not one bill was permitted to go through. It's was unprecedented . The most unproductive Congress in our history. This after the W just got done wrecking the entire world economy . Left us on the brink of a great world wide depression. Now we have a misogynist a Russian plant , a man who insults everyone who disagrees with him like a child.we have an idiot bully jack ass in our white house. We are going to reject this bigot and fight him and his henchmen every minute of every day.
What the democrats are protesting: A free and fair election. A peaceful transition of power. All those that fought and died to protect this.
That's what I'm here for - to amuse Liberals. Sadly, not all are being amused; some are actually take offense at my posts. Know why?
Remember the Occupoo movement. They squatted in public parks, pee'd and crapped all over their own living space....it was real impressive .
