What should be done about people who are registered to vote in more than one state at the same time? Trump has ordered an investigation into voter fraud.

when you move from one state to another then reregister this will happen..thats why we need voter ID laws..with that in place then they can delete you from the first state and register you in the new state..

Well, nothing. The problem is that there is no established system for voters newly registered in one state to be taken off another state's rolls. Most people who move from one state to another and were registered in their first state and then register in the second state are in this boat.

Why not issue a federal voter ID for US citizens only the same as we have a Social Security Number. Every Citizen would have one and it would be used on every ballot. If a state, like California, wants to let non-citizens vote in the communities where they live, that is a great idea, and CA could issue a CA resident voter ID for that person. There vote would count in California, but not for Federal issues.

When you register in another state, your ID would automatically be taken off of the rolls in the other state, unless you declared the other state as your primary voting residence. You should be able to vote in both states on state issues, just not federal issues.

If we had voter IDs, the IDs could be cross checked for voting in two states, are you old enough, are you dead, etc. at the Federal election level.

The problem is that most liberal states to not want any kind of required voter ID

Nothing as long as they dont vote in both. Trumps problem isnt with them being registered in two states but that it make voter fraud easier. You should be required to tell the states if you registered in both. A simple question are you registered in another state ?
