I saw the current President of Mexico has told Deplorable Trump Mexico will refuse to pay up for the wall, which is still the core message, even if Deplorable Trump tries to twist it like a washcloth as "sending federal funding" or "reimbursement." Mexico needs to do something like this. Tell Trump that not only will they, under any circumstance, or happenstance, be involved in any financing regarding the wall. Trump would only hurt us more, in terms of trade, by getting nasty with Mexico, since we have so many products coming from Mexico, and more than likely, going to stay that way.

The fact the current Mexican President hasn't sent Deplorable Trump a aggressive sentiment like this makes me wonder, "Is Mexico just trying to gain attention?" "Are they trying to pi$$ Trump off for his divisive rhetoric toward their citizens?" Killing off talks between the US and Mexico, in regards to the wall, is so easy. Even average folk like myself could do it..

So, I'm guessing most members are agreeing with me.

Either that, or they haven't seen it yet.

    Mexico will pay.

They gave us this problem and they will pay for the solution. If that offends them, I don't care. Good fences make good neighbors.

What they should do is bite the bullet and pay up now before we bleed it out of them with interests. And don't try and play this "they should threaten us because they can hurt us" game. It's pathetic. Anything they can try and do to us. We can do 50 times harder to them. Texas alone could (*)(*)(*)(*) them over more then Mexico could harm the entire US.

What? Why do guys like you wait 30 minutes before posting dribble like this? So pathetic

Mexico all along has been getting away with shipping over criminals to us. To hell with them. There aren't boatloads of Americans jumping onto their border, make them pay. Period.

After the wall is completed all we have to do is put a toll on Mexicans coming across the border to visit American strip bars and it'll be paid for in 10 years. Those bad hombres can't get enough of white women dancing half naked in honky tonks.

I question why are we so eager to get a wall up anyway?

Is that really going to curb illegal immigration like we think it will? it is just a quick fix solution, and doesn't get to the bigger picture, which is simplifying naturalization. Is isolating ourselves really going to solve all our problems? No, it isn't.

The fact is, Mexico has no say in the matter. There are myriad ways to gain remuneration from them for the cost of the wall. Of course those hunting for partisan spin will not settle for anything short of a pallet of cash air-dropped by the Mexican air force onto the lawn of the white house with a thank-you note attached.

All of this conversation assumes that all Trump has to do is build his $30 billion wall and illegal immigration will immediately stop.
No it won't. Immigrants get into America in all sorts of ways beyond just sneaking across the Mexican border.
They dig tunnels, they arrive by boat and by plane using phony documents, they receive temporary visas to study or work in America and then just stay. Plenty of them cross the 6000-mile border with Canada.
And immigrants who are fleeing violence are determined. As the saying goes, "show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder."
Trump's wall is a really really expensive Band-Aid.

Why is it that the counties along the border didn't vote Trump?

No it's not. The massive cost and disruption is not worth it. Plus we need those immigrants to do all the jobs that citizens won't do.
Hey, what are you going to tell all those wealthy Texas landowners who refuse to have Trump's massive construction project on their property? "Tough (*)(*)(*)(*)"?

Trump has spited Mexico and the Mexican People the whole, why should Mexico reward him, after Trump talked so deplorably about Mexico?

What era do you think you are living in? the 1950's?
We have so much technology in 2017 that we can use to detect people attempting to cross the border. Ground Sensors, Drones, Cameras, Sentrys. Your 51 foot ladder is a moot point since they'll have towers and infrastructure to properly patrol the border.

Did you know that there are parts of the border fence currently where the fence just ends abruptly ends??... thats illegal immigrants and drugs crossing into USA unchecked.

With a proper wall you can cut down drastically on the 60% of all illegal immigrants that don't have a shot of coming across the border. The other 40% are Visa overstays which we can re-visit at another time.
