They'll start as soon as the Democrats stop putting politics in the way of doing the job and get cabinet members appointed.

They'll probably just have a pajama and play-doh party though, prance around, practice crying on que and stuff.

The GOP never thought it a good idea to make the government responsible for what represents roughly 20% of the economy, that is true.

I based my comment on the original post of this thread (feel free to look back):

Okay...so as soon as the cabinet members are confirmed...it will get done.

    We'll look at it then.

This is more fun that I ever woulda imagined!

I don't now what Democrats are obstructing. They haven't started yet because the GOP hasn't started repealing yet. I am sure Dems will do their best to prevent repeal without a replacement. So, yes, I think if the GOP actually comes up with a sensible plan that does not result in 20 million going back to the ranks of the uninsured, I am sure they can get the Dems on board. I am not holding my breath, though, because the MAIN idea that the GOP seems to have is to allow providers to operate across state lines. I am not sure how that would result in universal coverage, though.

The reason why health care in the United States consumes nearly 20% of GDP is BECAUSE it is privately run, and the various players have turned it into an oligopoly which does not respond to economic pressures.

No other country comes even close to spending that much on health care, including many countries where health care is measurably better than it is here.

This is why US per capita health care costs are the highest in the world, and that's what the GOP want's to keep, and has fought to keep for 25 years.

As for your claim about Obama, here he is, in his own words (I even found a right trash blog to cite as a source!)

Just how many Republicans do you think voted yes on the ACA?

Really? Gosh, I wonder why that is? Could it be that Republican Governor's turned down the exchanges making Obamacare less self-sustaining, hijacking the program so it would fail? Of course it was.
Yea right! A real monopolizer where around thirty Republican governor's turned down the exchanges. That's monopolizing it alright.

You aren't just kidding. I'm living proof of that. It's ridiculous the level of care combined with the ridiculously reasonable costs. It's cheaper to buy a plane ticket overseas, and still come out cheaper.

    You are exactly right.

Some of the biggest health care providers in the country pulled out of Obamacare.

    http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/17/news/economy/obamacare-insurers/

Obamacare is a complete and utter failure that is completely unsustainable and is failing all on it's own.

No, we don't need democrats for that. They had their chance and blew it.

We might need a few because there are always a few republicans who aren't really conservatives, but we'll manage.

Did you even bother reading your own link? I couldn't have dangled a bigger worm on a hook to catch you. It's telling us exactly what I told you about the exchanges. The suggestions were to boost the subsidy levels on the exchanges. Meaning there needs to be more participation. Your link just explained the actual problem with the exchanges, and that is a lack of participation. Thanks for pointing out exactly what I was telling you.

You just proved to us all Obamacare is not a failure, and that it was a lack of participation by Republican governors that is the real problem.

I'm sorry that you think you understand something you obviously don't.

If you can read the article you might notice that the providers were originally in the exchanges, and left the exchanges because they LOST money.

That's got nothing to do with a governor, and I'm not sure what power you think a governor has over Aetna.

    I'm sorry that you do not understand the philosophical as well as the practical solutions to Obamacare;
Also, state and federal governments can offer incentives to insurers to participate on the exchanges -- both through carrots and sticks. Alaska, which will have only one carrier on its exchange next yeNational carriers aren't the only ones struggling with higher-than-expected costs on the exchanges. Many Blue Cross Blue Shield companies, which have insured individuals for years, and smaller players are also suffering, said Dan Mendelson, president of Avalere Health, a consulting firm.
That's because there are too many sick people in the risk pools and not enough healthy ones to offset the costs. And the situation is getting worse, he said.
"The government will have to get involved," Mendelson said. "The exchanges are viable in the long-term, but only if the government stabilizes the risk pools."
    Making the exchanges healthier
Experts suggested several ways to lure healthier people into the exchanges, including increasing the penalties for not having coverage and boosting the subsidy levels to make it less expensive to obtain insurance.
Related: Obamacare patients sicker and pricier than expectedar, created a fund that will help insurers cover high-cost patients. The money will come from a tax levied on all Alaska insurers (not just health insurers).
Nevada, on the other hand, requires all insurers that participate in its Medicaid market to also offer coverage on its exchange. And Florida said that it would only approve the merger of Aetna and Humana if they agreed to expand their presence on the state's exchange. (The deal has been blocked by the federal Department of Justice.)

This is about participation of healthy people as well as sick people that I underlined for ACA to work.. It is how the program is set up. It is what we were told in the beginning. If the people fight the plan, it can't work, which is exactly what the Right has done. Bottom line, full participation compliments the plan. It's how it was designed. It is looked upon as a failure by folks like you, because it was hijacked to fail on purpose, by doing away with the very participating mechanisms that make it work.

    That's right.

    Read that realllll slow.

Obamacare is unsustainable without MASSIVE infusions of tax payer money. So, not only do the plans offered cost more, have higher premiums and deductibles, restrict what doctors you can see BUT you pay even MORE in taxes to fund it.

The DESIGN does not work. It is an abysmal failure. No one makes money, you're FORCED to buy it, and the care SUCKS.

That's got nothing to do with the right wing, that's got to do with how horribly it was designed.

Obama and the democrats failed, but then, they have failed at everything they've done.

Their only success has been spreading terrorism and violence like feces all over the globe.

The GOP controls the WH and the Congress. They do not need democratic help. The democrats, if they want to help, can by voting for whatever is proposed.

Yes, except that the republicans are flush with cuckservatives.

I'm guessing that Trump will call those out who don't vote along party lines, and it will make headline news.

No more hiding in the shadows of an R next to your name, but a D next to your vote.

Either way. The democrats had to pass the last law before they could figure out what was in it, so I am not sure they are particularly knowledgeable or qualified to craft its replacement since they apparently didn't know what the hell they were passing to begin with.

it can't work, so forget replacing it with anything. We can't afford the bs we have already and yes I DO mean SS and Medicare. and just why should the productive provide for the non-productive, hmm? They should perish in and of their own void.

You have a habit of bouncing around a lot, so I'm going to ask to you focus on this one point first. If we can get by this one easy point, we can address some of the other things you've brought up.

Yes, most individual private plans had to go away because they did not meet the required standards established by the ACA:

    http://www.aarp.org/health/health-insurance/info-08-2013/affordable-care-act-health-benefits.html

    From the link:

"The law sets certain standards that all insurers must meet, and mandates that all health plans offered to those who buy health insurance on their own or in small groups include a set of "essential health benefits."

Since most plans did not meet the ridiculous standards established by the ACA, insurance companies were required to cancel them. 60 year olds lost their insurance because their policies didn't cover "maternity and newborn care" . Upwards of 5 million people who had insurance and doctors they liked were suddenly uninsured and had to turn to the Exchanges. Yet left wing propaganda requires that you count these people as newly insured.

Why it didn't make sense in the place makes makes me question what you really understand about the law.

The Public Option died on the negotiating table long before the GOP decided it was going to vote against any sort of health insurance reform, no matter what it was.

    - - - Updated - - -

Watching right winger try and rewrite history is what is truly shameless. Nearly everything that righties have posted in this thread is not only false, its ridiculous.

Making up your own reality is a right wing thing, these days Trump does it every day.

Obama has told Democrats in Congress not to participate in fixing obamacare. He wants Republicans to be the ones to try and clean up the mess he made and get his name off the result, he specifically said to start calling it Trump care. The Republicans have been protesting Obamacare since its inception and expected Hillary to be the next president so their plan was to just keep protesting. Now that they have both houses of Congress and the Whitehouse it's time to put up or shut up. Democrats are obviously going to sit this out so the Republicans will have to go it alone. As senator Johnson said repeal and replace sounds good but is easier said than done after nearly eight years of large groups of people getting free or heavily subsidized health insurance. What Republicans should not do is to copy Democrats and tack together a hodgepodge of unrealistic ideas in a very short amount of time and ram it down America's throat. They need to approach this in a calm decisive manner with the best minds and take a year or even two to come up with a plan they can call Trump care and have that plan be something to be proud of. I'm not sure politics will allow this sane approach and I'm not sure politicians can rise to this occasion, time will tell.

Obama asked Republicans to come up with a socialist program better than his own which is like asking a cow to fly. At this point though the cow may need to sprout wings because Obama won and his socialist health care has so many people getting something for nothing that taking it away is political suicide. Obamacare is obviously not working and Republicans will have to come up with something better now and have a tough row to hoe.

Neither, and I don't know ANYONE who is part of the horror stories I hear on this board, I have asked several times for some sort of citation proving such exist, but get nothing but more anecdotes about themselves or their uncle or friend.

My opinion is that Republicans downright LIKE seeing sick people suffer, it satisfies their Calvinist souls. Universal single payer Healthcare is cheaper and better and just about every civilized country in the world uses it, what other reason could there be for the most advanced and wealthiest nation in the world to have a system about like what they have in Somalia?

Oh, and why is single payer off the table? I have read somewhere that Trump actually favors it. If he gets that passed, hell yes, he's got my vote.
