Well their you go Mr. President. Your buddy Putin, the man who you have claimed to be friends with and claimed you have never met has launched a missile in violation of a treaty. What do you do now? Ask Flynn to call them? That did not work out well for him before. Tillerson knows him. Going to send him? Going to tweet about it? After Trump has complained about China, North Korea, Mexico, and a host of other countries, does he have the fortitude, the resolve to stand up to Russia? http://www.cbsnews.com/news/russian-provocations-test-trumps-commitment-to-improving-relations/ But one particular type -- a land-based cruise missile with a range greater than 300 miles -- is specifically banned by a treaty signed by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev in the final years of the Cold War. Now U.S. officials say Russia has deployed just such a missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. It happened secretly in December during the Obama administration, but it is now up to President Trump to respond. U.S. officials say the deployment is such a blatant violation that it calls into question the value of future arms control treaties with Russia. Also, just four days ago, an incident similar to last years buzzing by Russian jets of a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Baltic Sea happened again, this time in the Black Sea.
The response will be interesting. I'm guessing that this is either Putin teasingly poking his impotent puppet, or he is tossing him a bone to let Trump rattle a few sabres and take attention off of the Trump Administration's extremely comfy relationship with the Kremlin. Trump will probably take a stentorian tone but won't do anything of substance. That way he and his prolific surrogates can run all over the media claiming that Trump stood up to the Russians. So far I haven't heard Trump address the situation yet. Maybe he's waiting until his next vacation (3 days from now) so he can charge $200,000 to let others sit in on briefing.
Your rebuttal appears to be incorrect. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...-trump-gets-full-flop-whether-hes-had-relati/ • When Thomas Roberts of MSNBC asked Trump, "Do you have a relationship with Vladimir Putin? A conversational relationship or anything that you feel you have sway or influence over his government?" Trump responded, "I do have a relationship, and I can tell you that he's very interested in what we're doing here today. He's probably very interested in what you and I am saying today, and I'm sure he's going to be seeing it in some form." -- interview, November, 2013 • "You know, I was in Moscow a couple of months ago. I own the Miss Universe Pageant and they treated me so great. Putin even sent me a present, a beautiful present." -- address at the CPAC conference, March 2014 • "Russia does not respect our country any longer. They see we've been greatly weakened, both militarily and otherwise, and he certainly does not respect President Obama. So what I would do—as an example, I own Miss Universe, I was in Russia, I was in Moscow recently and I spoke, indirectly and directly, with President Putin, who could not have been nicer, and we had a tremendous success. The show was live from Moscow, and we had tremendous success there and it was amazing, but to do well, you have to get the other side to respect you, and he does not respect our president, which is very sad." -- address at the National Press Club, May 2014 • "As far as the Ukraine is concerned … if Putin wants to go in -- and I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes. We were stablemates, and we did very well that night." -- portion of an answer at the Fox Business News debate, Nov. 2015. (The notion that the two men appeared together on 60 Minutes has been debunked. As Time magazine put it succinctly, "In fact, they weren’t even on the same continent.") - - - Updated - - - It must be convenient to invoke a denialist (which is a word in just invented) mantra whenever reality is inconveniently anti Trump.
No Response from Traitor Trump. Apparently, he only twitter trolls countries without nukes. (thank god for small favors)
What I get bothered about is that no-one mentions the NATO build up in Lithuania, and all around Russia. Putin is acting defensively, and that makes him a war monger. Fine. They will force him, and China and Iran into the most cataclysmic event in world history. The UN /NWO will get their population reduction, and everything will be oh so wonderful.
Facing allegations that he is in collusion with Putin, this time makes Trump extraneous to deal with the matter, but on the other hand it's actually Tillerson's job and like Flynn will certainly place his head on the chop board. Such a bliss for a President to have secretaries.
Wonder how Trump will react to the deployment of nuclear cruise missiles as he campaigned on a more aggressive take no crap President; using Obama as an example otherwise. He did imply he will deal with all provocations in a tougher manner than the Obama administration. Russian jets in 'unsafe' encounters with destroyer: U.S. official http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-russia-military-idUSKBN15T2MU But Captain Danny Hernandez, a spokesman for U.S. European Command, cited three separate incidents involving Russian aircraft and the USS Porter. One involved two Russian Su-24 jets, another a separate Su-24, and the third a larger IL-38. "USS Porter queried all aircraft and received no response," Hernandez said. "Such incidents are concerning because they can result in accident or miscalculation," he added. The incidents involving the Su-24 were considered to be unsafe and unprofessional by the commanding officer of the Porter because of their high speed and low altitude, while the IL-38 flew at an unusually low altitude, Hernandez said. Another U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the lone Su-24 came within 200 yards (meters) of the Porter at an altitude of 300 feet (90 meters).
