I've said all along that automation could lead us down one of two paths.
One being very good and the other pretty bleak. It is my hope that we go down the better path.
I believe that automation will cause unemployment under our current system, if we don't change it somehow.
You mentioned education as being key to us ending up with something more desirable,...
what exactly do you think that we as a society need to do to get us there?

I am pretty sure that is an endorsement of communism.

It leaves us dependent on government. If you notice, government loves regulations and laws. They love to tell us what to do and when to do it. To pay them taxes.

We then depend on that regulating goverment to give us a shout out that it does not mean us.

For instance, you people are not subject to Dodd Frank. I am very much. What has it done FOR me? Absolutely nothing.

Surely it did something to make your life better?? Didn't it? Well not actually. If you depend on me being regulated, it might make you happy. But frankly you got nothing out of Dodd Frank. Me? regulations and more expenses to pass forward to customers. They end up paying for it.

now should I not be able to forward those costs, due to Dodd Frank provisions trying to stop that, I get the crud.

The proposal I posted is not Dodd Frank, nor is it communism:
"a theory advocating elimination of private property"

So, that said, do you have any objections to the proposal itself?
If so, which part(s) specifically, and why?

I never said it is Dodd Frank. I said I am pretty sure that is an endorsement of Communism and that is how I feel about it. Maybe the defense it is not communism is valid. But you do not control how it would all end thus the comment made by me in my opinion is valid. Were you fully in control, you could prevent communism. But as I see it, you nor I could claim to be in control.

Hey, for what it is worth to you

EXCELLENT presentation. It is simple and easy to comprehend.

There is no doubt that Automation leads to fewer jobs doing what the machines do.

A question to be raised is who produces those machines?

As a former machine shop owner, I know a bit about automatic machines. My shop had a milling machine made in Spain. I had two lathes. Yes, the shop was small but I did have 4 full time workers.

I had one extremely fast cut off saw made in the USA. This cut steel so fast you might think it was cutting butter.

I had a drilling / tapping machine. I am sorry but don't recall the maker of it.

I have been inside a number of very large machine shops. Those with the Bridtgeport mills had made in America.

My two lathes were made in England.

This article speaks of machine exports but not machine tools. Machine tools make other tools.

    https://www.selectusa.gov/machinery-and-equipment-industry-united-states

Sankyo, HQ in Japan does have an Ohio plant to make tool changers. Automatic machines to make many things normally have tools on them and machines to change tools used.

You need to go back and do your research and learn up about what's actually going on a lot of the manufacturing jobs that are gone have gone because of automation already

How many times have you been inside a communist country? I have been inside one two times when it was fully operational.

I have some automation in my business. I found that it was cheaper for me to pay a mechanic to be the operator than it was to have someone who could only run the machine and have a department of mechanics to do maintenance. While it means fewer employees. It also means higher wages for the employees I do have.

The machine shop operators who can afford what is called the CNC machine, that still uses one man, but works at a furious and accurate pace, on extremely complex products, is better off by far than buying a good number of lesser machines with their operators since it will take a good number to match the computer driven machine. Machines do not need pensions nor health plans. They don't get drunk and fail to show up.

From you? A real genuine Democrat or such supporter of them??

Since I realize how all Democrats are true experts on communism, why not teach.

Folks, this will be funny. I have studied it a long time. I have seen it in operation. Not in books, but in real life.

So go for it. Teach. Tell us where you saw it in person.

I am pretty certain when I read 3 of Milton Friedman's books he explained this. And the way it works is to try to prevent competition, company markets for a fixed profit margin plus error margin. Generally the decent corporations will make profits of 5 up to 10 percent. Show them competition and they retract to let's say 5 percent. That might discourage new firms. But the new firms are the regulation of profits.

This cracks me up. I am back to roasting this post for a second time. Good golly. It has amusement potentioal that might last a few more hours.

I saw it and he wants me to pick up a book.

Well, I offered him the opportunity to explain what I know from seeing and of course talking to actual living humans who escaped communism... then the many books on this topic I have also read.

There is what you see as theory. But when you see it, it sure does not look much like the dictionary version.

Duh. You miss the whole point of automation, which is to reduce the costs of production and distribution by reducing the need for employees.
