That's true. Global Warming causes climate change.

The rhetoric has certainly focussed more on climate change than global warming, probably to account for individual experiences.

The point I was making was that it was false to claim that there was a rebranding of GW to CC. They have both been used interchangeably since the mid seventies. If anything was rebranded it was CC to GW as CC first appeared in 1956 and GW first appeared in 1975. :)

Perhaps, but when one looks at the main stream media depictions and governmental references, which only picked up around this issue in the 1990s there is definitely a shift from GW to CC. The resurrection, if you will, of the CC moniker is probably due to the difficulty of mentally associating freak snow storms to global warming. "Re-branding" is too strong a term, but there is a definite shift in emphasis.

Actually the "shift" only appeared in the middle 1990s and even then only by about 2 ten thousandths of a %. Not very much of a "shift."

I believe in global warming. I believe in the science. But then I don't care. I do not want to save the planet. America can sink in the sea, or any other nation. I won't stop using plastic bags with shopping!

I don't call into doubt the science. Only some peoples interpretations of it.
There are a lot of crankies out there.

The rebranding took place when all the wild claims about Global Warming, as predicted by the "Hockey Stick graph"... failed to manifest.
1998 is the date when the science and the hockey stick predictions parted ways.
For the next ten years there wasn't any discernible Global Warming. So they rebranded. Changed the name to something less contentious. Climate change. Who can argue that the climate changes?
Companies like the BBC had already run into legal issues for promoting Global Warming as factual rather than theoretical. As had the IPCC.

Using the words climate change to mean global warming is an act of dishonesty. That is not what the words mean. So if you do so, you loose credibility because we all know why you have done it. Lying is lying.

Be honest and more people will trust you.
