I suppose they could be....but they aren't under socialized medicine under any real world definition of the term.

Can you stop giving to your SS? No! Can you under Obama Care opt out without being fined? No! Do you have a voice in how gov spends your money? No! Any more questions?

Sure they are...their incomes are restricted as are their choices on who they care for, when, and how they practice medicine. It is all mandated by the state. And the state changes it according to the economic realities they created.

That is not slavery. Actually that is insulting to the history of real slavery.

    Actually, you can.
Many (most?) state employees do not pay into SS.

    It's not.
    It's involuntary servitude.
Any mention of "slavery" is a deliberate and dishonest attempt to derail the conversation.

    lol! Involuntary servitude is slavery.

Sorry, but I'll call it slavery. You may translate that to mean involuntary servitude if you want, just so we are communicating at some level.

Here is how it is not slavery
    Slaves can not quit
    Slaves are not paid
    Slaves are property
    Slaves can be beaten

Call it whatever you like but it is not slavery

    - - - Updated - - -

How is it involuntary? You mean they can not quit? Really?

Slavery and involuntary servitude are not the same thing, conceptually, legally, or constitutionally.

And neither applies to socialized medicine. Involuntary means you can't quit.

I agree with that concept; I'm not sure how they do that in Canada or Denmark for example; not sure if they even have the means for private health care.

You can't debate a free (*)(*)(*)(*)ter, they just want free (*)(*)(*)(*) and will defend their leeching to the end.

No, just a statement. You live in society voluntarily, so get over it. If you don't want to participate, go where you will be more happy.

I don't think it's fair to say to someone that if they don't like certain aspects of how their country is run, they should just leave their country. If I were you I would at least try and understand what their grievances are.

You're entitled to your point of view but not your own definition. A single payer healthcare scheme is not state-enforced involuntary servitude. It is where payment for health care services is made by a single payer agency. It doesn't preclude private healthcare being purchased directly by consumers if they can afford it and they purchase from the same providers. Health care providers can choose whether or not to work in the system. They're not indentured. Everyone gets paid, this isn't the Trump real estate development system.

A cop out? Not accepting a twisted definition is a cop-out? Just like your assertion that socialism is a form of slavery - it's utter garbage and not to be taken seriously. You want to be taken seriously then leave the custom-made definitions at home and bring the real ones, not the fake ones. Critique the idea, don't just slap a label on it and think that does your work for you.
