So Comey said last year that these war torn nations made it impossible to actually vet. So , do we spend 3 years of not being able to vet, and then just allow the sumbitches in? We need to have a total travel ban, period. One American life is too much to lose. We could get rid of the unconstitutional national security state by just banning all immigration and refugees from the middle east. No foreigner has a right to come to the US. Or you could risk the lives of americans with unicorn and rainbow irrationality.

Long post with nothing other your complaints about Iran being on the list. Iran is on the list because they wont share information with us regarding their citizens traveling to the US. In my opinion the multiple state sponsored rallys where everyone chants in unison "death to America" is a sufficient enough reason.

Yet you can't seem to go after what he is doing, so you go after the man himself.

Iran has been on the "state sponsored terrorism" list.... so they "like" terrorism. Seems as good a reason as any other.

Ultimately, let them ban it again if there is a legal basis. Otherwise it's just another policy.

I'm glad round 2 is out, and if that runs into legal issues, then round 3, 4, 5.

    I'm behind this.

For those that keep ranting about why not this country or why not that country as well, then I suggest you call or write your congress person and say "please add X and Y to the list, its not enough" Thanks in advance

Yep, it was a BS order the first time, and it may be even more so now with essentially the same language and intent, but with the most obvious glaring issues simply omitted. Agent Orange pretended that the nation was in grave danger when the courts shut his first EO down and threatened to "see them in court" over it, yet since then his admin has sought the opposite by trying to stay out of court, because of course they know they'll lose in court. Now we have this revised version that's going to face similar challenges and which once again is doing practically nothing even if it does survive and take effect. We're not flooded with immigrants from the ME, nor is terrorism a great problem here at this time, and based on this, nothing that Trump is ordering in the EO is going to have a necessary or positive effect. We're in no danger of "looking like Europe" as some ignorantly argue. It's not like Africans are crossing the Atlantic on overfilled boats and flooding in by the thousands, and it's not like we don't already have vetting of immigrants and refugees to keep terrorists out. Indeed, we are rarely if ever attacked in a terroristic fashion by immigrants, especially first-generation immigrants. I happened on 9/11/01, when we weren't prepared to screen them out or catch them the way we are already now, and that hasn't been repeated since.

It was my impression that even 9/11/01 was something we brought on ourselves in a way through our Middle Eastern policies. What do you think about that? I don't want to say that the thousands of innocent people killed on that day deserved it, because they certainly didn't and I hope no one will leap to such a conclusion here, but I do think that it happened because of how the US was treating the ME. We have to remember that a lot had happened by then, with our support for Israel despite their abuses toward the Palestinians, our backing of a coup in Iran to bring the same people to power there who are now our hated enemies, our meddling in Iraq in support of Saddam Hussein, who again later went on to be treated as an enemy, and who knows what all else.

Yeah that's just simply not true. We have a long list of people that have been arrested for terror plots by people on that list of countries.

That doesn't even include all the somalis we have trying to join terror groups in the ME and africa.

There is no reason any country should be accepting people into their countries from violent cultures that have anarchy as their idea of law, and who support and or participate in religious violence.

I agree though, any government or individual that commits terror or tries to commit terror on US soil should have all immigration from said country immediately banned.

Pakistan & Saudi Arabia have better vetting... Oh, & Saudi Arabia has a LOT of oil.
I haven't seen a peep about any new engagements in military conflict... To date by this Administration.

What I'm saying, is that I'd broaden the restrictions.... Rest assured.

If this were living up to his early campaign want of a temporary ban on ALL Muslims, then we'd see a temporary ban on all Muslims.... I'm pretty sure if Trump still really wanted to go that route, he'd do so.

It could verywell be a bit of snuggling up too. Considering Trump's want to stear away from dependence on foreign oil...

We shall see. After all, still not even 2 months in....

Number one, I trust not leaks..... Farts either, but that's another subject I guess... Sorta..

Anyway, the second part of your comment not having a thing to do with the first, question part, I stand by my assertion.

"A poor way to prevent terrorism" seems like such a fart in the wind statement.

One thing's for sure. Not having this temporary restriction, or something like it, is surely a much poorer way to prevent terrorism.

The left are so far off the reservation, they would prefer to turn this nation into a mess like Europe and risk their loved ones lives, than support a POTUS doing something so reasonable as to temporarily slow the influx of people that cannot be vetted from terrorist nations. If you tried as hard as you could, you couldn't be more self-destructive to your own welfare than the democrat party is to the USA.

We discussed this before. The terrorist you spoke of were extremely questionable - that is it was considered questionable whether they really were. The sentences were 3 years - yeah real terrorists.

I know that the initial view in the UK was most strongly that it was a response to the US's position on Palestine. I think they said that was what it was for. I did not know it then but on 25th October 1995 the Republicans voted to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. This was when the two state solution was supposed to be ongoing and the Republicans voting to move it there was seen as the Republicans saying no to the two state solution and claiming all of Jerusalem for Israel - including of course Al Asqa Mosque - the third most holy in Islam. Only 10 days later and Rabin was shot and the two state solution was dead. The Republican's had their first President since this time in office for only a few months before 9/11. All presidents since then have put off moving the embassy for national security until Trump who it seems when reality hits has done too. The Republicans decided against a just solution for the Palestinians. It very likely was the prime reason for 9/11....and of course nobody deserved to die...and yes there are the other things usually with the UK involved. We just don't talk about what we do to others. Since 9/11 the West has lost it's ability to be reflective. Everything is just the Muslims who are evil and who must be killed.

Yes, things have been rather crazy since that attack. Nothing Bush did during his two terms helped with that, unfortunately. I suppose it was too late to settle things down by the time 0bama came along.

No they don't. When I looked it up it seems the Syrians had the most grueling vetting.

Indeed as did Libya and Iraq. That makes no sense.

Then you definitely have not been paying attention. The US has put Iran on notice. Netanyahu believes he may be able get the Saudi's to agree to the deportation of the Palestinians or at the least to turn a blind eye to their suffering as they live for eternity without rights and become their alley through their joint enmity towards Iran. (nobody else believes this but Netanyahu and Trump seem to.)
OK you are new and I took you at your word to begin with. You would like all Muslims banned from the US and you don't care how it is done? What you wanting done about those already there?

Ridiculous. Some of them have received 40 years like Waad Ramadan Alwan.

That you're trying to normalize and defend US based terrorists trying to join al-shabab and ISIS is, quite frankly, disgusting.

DHS: More than 300 refugees being investigated for terror ties

The FBI is investigating approximately 300 refugees for ties to terrorism. The Bureau is investigating more than 1,000 individuals who may have been inspired or motivated by the Islamic State.

Two terrorist attacks by Somali refugees have injured more than 20 Americans in the past year. The DHS also pointed Monday to the case of another Somali refugee who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2014 for trying to set off a bomb at a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in Portland, Ore.

The announcement from the DHS official came as President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would temporarily stop refugee admittances for 120 days.

More than 4,300 refugees have entered the country in the past month since a federal judge blocked Trump’s previous order stopping refugee entry. This new executive order will be effective on March 16, and during the halt in refugee entry, the government will review vetting procedures.

Those are astonishing numbers. And what isn't clear is if any of those 300 refugees is already in the country. When the Obama administration cut the vetting time for refugees from 18 months to 3 months, there was concern that some refugees allowed into the U.S. would be inadequately vetted. Jeff Sessions, now attorney general, released a staff report last year that stated that at least 40 refugees allowed into the U.S. have since been implicated in terrorist activities.

Going the extra mile to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the United States should be among the highest priorities of government. Presidential Candidate Clinton appeared more concerned with appearances regarding American "compassion" and "generosity" rather than with keeping us safe, the change in attitude by the Trump administration is welcome.

I'll admit, out of all the US domestic issues the arouse the interest of Europeans, why this one? Why do you care that not as many Somali's come to the US for a few months than usual? Why is that such a big deal to you when you have neighbors who are far more restrictive in their refugee or immigration policies? Please tell me why the people of Germany feel that the US needs more Yemenis?

Does the US really need more Muslims and, if so, why? There are other countries which have people more likely to assimilate into US culture and who value the laws and principles for which it stands. I see no upside for importing more Muslims but if you believe there are advantages of some sort please name them.
