The slave narrative and immigrant narrative are two entirely different experiences.

Slaves were ripped from their families and their homes and forced against their will after being sold into slavery by slave traders.

The Immigrants made the choice to come to America. The two experiences should never be intertwined.

 

Pretty sure Obama compared slaves to immigrants as well. When folks have to speak for a living, you can often go back and find lots of stupid stuff they have said.....Not defending it, just pointing out that others have said it as well.

 

Same with being poor.
