If you do not, we will cage you, or shoot you if you resist. There is no why. Just do it or face the consequences.
I made clear from the start that these were more guidelines (to be taken seriously) than outright laws. The Maxims should be applied in all reasonable cases but only reasonable cases. You're taking expressly non-absolute statements than attempting to apply them absolutely so you can say, "Gotcha!" It's an inherently illogical premise on your part.
So the whole Maxim thing is meaningless, Here is the definition of Maxim Popularity: Top 40% of words Simple Definition of maxim : a well-known phrase that expresses a general truth about life or a rule about behavior Source: Merriam-Webster's Learner's Dictionary Now do I need to define " rule"
Good question...... the foundation of law... in my opinion is....."do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Civil disobedience is acceptable if a bad law won't be changed by the law-makers. The emancipation of women is an example.
Yes..... ethical Muslims in Islamic nations should rebel against obviously oppressive customs and laws.....
The book of Romans says all authority exists by God and should be obeyed... not obeyed blindly ... and there are examples of civil disobedience in the Bible... but generally government is a restraint against evil in the world of many kinds I like how our Liberty Bell has a verse form the book of Leviticus on it 'Proclaim Liberty through the land and to the inhabitance there of '.... there seems to be a liberty that comes with obedience to good laws particularly laws from God if used rightly (and no, I don't believe salvation comes from obeying the law, rather by mercy, but faith working in love follows salvation which includes loving the spirit of the law) https://www.slideshare.net/MichaelScaman/leviticus-proclaim-liberty-throughout-the-land
And I note that in Jeremiah when people of Jerusalem were taken to Babylon, they were told to work for the welfare of that place they were taken to and to pray for its peace https://www.slideshare.net/MichaelScaman/jeremiah-71667604
Here is one of my own ramblings on what I believe is an exception to the general rule...... http://www.politicalforum.com/index...e-military-and-police.464405/#post-1066384559 An apology to all members of the military and police! .... I just want to say that I am truly sorry for all those years that I was close to believing in near total pacifism! Rabbi Jesus/Yehoshua once asked a question of the Scribes and Pharisees that should have made it obvious to me that an extreme situation can call for drastic action by a Christian or Jew who feels called into a life in the military or police! Mark 3:4 "And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace." I am almost certain that Rabbi Jesus/Yehoshua was referring to the situation faced by the Machabees when Greco - Syrian armies were attacking Jewish communities on the Sabbath. One community had refused to fight back....but the Machabees....in my opinion correctly judged that this is a violation of an admonition by King Solomon: Ecclesiastes 7:16 "Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?" Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible, First Book Of Machabees Chapter 2
If you work on the sabbath you'll be killed, no exceptions! Numbers 15:32-36 (CEV) = "A Man Put to Death for Gathering Firewood on the Sabbath 32 Once, while the Israelites were traveling through the desert, a man was caught gathering firewood on the Sabbath. 33 He was taken to Moses, Aaron, and the rest of the community. 34 But no one knew what to do with him, so he was not allowed to leave. 35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people to take that man outside the camp and stone him to death!” 36 So he was killed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses."
