No it isn't Trump's fault....... It would have been an opportunity for him to bring the parties together.

    I could see that.

Id like Trump to call the leaders of the dems in the house and senate to his office with the republican leaders.

Then Trump should make a deal.

Exchange the crucifixion of Rice and the Obama administration for the confirmation of Gorsuch.

Then republicans should put the nuclear genie back in the bottle.

whatever dude, your plan wouldn't work anyway, because Gorsuch has already been nominated.

Trump is going to crucify them. You know that right?

If McConnell had acted like an adult last year...none of this would be happening right now.l

And the truly astonishing part is...the guy who is going to be most responsible for setting things right...

    ...yup...Mitch McConnell.

    Hey...what could go wrong?

Scalia himself stated that the court was in dire need of someone who has been living and working somewhere other than in the thick of a coastal liberal metro area.

The fact is that Gorsuch is much more mainstream than Garland is aside from the fact that they are both Harvard (puke) Law School grads.

The Democrats are going to regret this move when Kennedy and/or Ginsberg keels over from old age.

One...they are not my heroes. I am not a Democrat for a reason.

Two...I have not underestimated the culpability of the Dems in any of our troubles.

Three...if Mitch McConnell had acted like an adult last year...none of this would be happening right now.

Yeah...and if they didn't do what they are doing...when Kennedy and/or Ginsberg "keels over from old age"...they would be dancing in the streets...right?

I think they can change the rules whenever they like just like voting to give themselves a raise.

Why even bother , nothing fair in them DNC emails , only reason there is a nuclear option is because of democrats. They would use it in a heartbeat.

If the Republicans can be the grown ups and make things such that the next time the kiddies are in charge, they can't monkey with the rules and make it easy for their hack nominees to make it through, then yes, I'm with you. But honestly, I don't see how they'd be able to do that.

I'm inclined to agree. Frankly, if the Dems want this option made available to them (and by all indications, they do), and if the Dems would be unwilling to take the nuclear option off the table when they're in control (and by all indications, they would be), then the Dems are responsible for the stupidity by which the Senate works. The Dems would love nothing more than to have the GOP operate under more restrictive rules, but level playing fields are a good thing for a reason.

Yes, and if the Dems would make use of the mechanism, asking the GOP to put in place one sided rules that prevent their use of the same mechanism, just to be able to say that they're the grownups, that would be unhelpful in the extreme.

Shumer is as big a tool and enemy of the American people as Mitch McConnell was when he dicked over Garland. The Democrats are a disgusting bunch of hypocrites and so are the Republicans. Now, the ******** GOP is going to use the so called nuclear option thereby changing the way we nominate judges forever. My hope is that if McConnell does this that the Democrats get power back soon and cram a bunch of 40 year old granola eating, yoga loving ultra liberal Supreme Court judges up their asses in the very near future...lol

Not an opinion I had anticipated from you, BVWC.

You don't want to drop to the Dems' level?

The Dems went nuclear after YEARS of GOP hyper-partisan and juvenile obstruction.

The Cons go nuclear after 2 weeks of Dem obstruction.

    LOL!!!!

I wish we republicans did to Kagan and Sotomayor what Democrats are trying to do to Gorsuch.

The term we have for Democrats is the act of Borking. What they did to Robert Bork is a shame.

Chuck Shumer already declared his intention to block President Trump at anything that he tries to do. He even said he would only support Judge Garland for the Supreme Court. Given that, President Trump would never be able to fill this or any future vacancy on the Supreme Court. The Republicans previously helped to approve two prior Obama nominees.

The Option has been tripped...Now all we have to do is wait for the countdown to end and ZAP...a new Justice...With one caveat...we do have some useless turncoat RINO's left in the Senate

Yes. The whole point of the thread is that in my opinion, we need more Heidi Heitkamps and fewer Chuck Shumers. (Same thing on the GOP side; get rid of the partisan hacks that are preventing reasonable governance...).
