To say the least. You'd think people actually read history books and researched before posting nonsense.

The only thing that restrains the American military is the American People? By that hopelessly romantic statement you make it appear that your connection to reality in that regard is most tenuous.

There is no part of the federal government, especially the Pentagon, that is controlled by the American People. LOL

You were the only one, no else is that old/knows the history - you are the SOLE arbiter of All Things Korean War.

Problem is, Kim Jong-un is bananas and has been spouting nuclear threats at the US for years, so if he simply kept his trap shut it'd defuse the whole situation.
At the moment his nuke missiles don't have the range to reach America, but in time he'll be able to develop them, so the dilemma for Don is whether to do nothing, or to hit him now while he still can.
A US surgical cruise/drone strike to trash a few of Jong-uns nuke installations and launch sites should be enough to stop any more development for the foreseeable future.
NK's nuclear program is, in military parlance- a "target-rich environment"..:)

Below- A future scenario if NK's nuke program goes unchecked? NK launches a nuke missile strike on the USA.
The orange line is the current SAM interceptor line along the Alaskan coast; maybe they'd stop the incoming nukes, maybe not..

Control is too stronger word, but constrained would apply. The us military could be doing so much more than it is. But that is not to say they are doing nothing

Control, constrain, whatever, it's a hopelessly romantic view you hold of who it is that controls this government. Hint: It is NOT the American people. Democracy is a word we teach in high school to condition thinking. It is NOT our form of government. Fascism is our form of government--corporations and special interests writing the rules and setting the policy.

Who was it that invaded and occupied Iraq based on lies? Was it the US government or was it Iran?

Oh, that's right. It was your beloved US government.

Therefore, they are primarily responsible for the destruction that ensued.

There is no doubt that the neo-cons were incompetent in handling the aftermath of a brilliant and devastating complete military defeat of the Iraqi regime in a matter of days.

That's the problem, its not that the military didn't do well, its that the politicians in their neo-con "they want what we have (even if they don't know it yet) arrogance.
the debaathification of Iraq was a complete and total clustermuck. A true executive branch "disaster".

That's frightening. I hadn't thought of that. A cargo vessel.. Those things are huge and with small investment could add a lot of shielding to already the monster of a boat.. Then just send it right up to a coastal city...doesn't even have to come off the thing..

    Tell me someone im crazy

Who gave iran the right to once again, arm certain groups as it has in gaza and lebanon? Can someone go in and arm the azeri in iran to take over the country? Or the bahai? Where does iran get the right to violate international law and supply arms to insurgents in another country? iraq would be FAR more stable if it wasn't being upended by iranian malignant interference, a fact obvious to all.

Im all for the US bringing all of our troops home and let the world take care of itself. No more US involvement in Europe. No more US involvement in the UN. end all military and defense treaties world wide.

At the same time, the US can take that money we save and use it to develop ways to increase food production, which we cans sell on the world market at a premium.

None of that would have happened had the US government not invaded and occupied Iraq based on lies.

    Welcome to reality.

The pretexts upon which the war was based were false. You are free to believe whatever you like about the intent of the people promoting those fallacious pretexts but I choose to believe they purposely misrepresented and distorted the truth.

The existential threat of sunni continued oppression, eviction and extermination of the shia populace? Seems you don't have a clue as to what Iran's motivations are, and seeing as how they are an enemy such ignorance is frightening.

But then again, history has demonstrated that america has perennially misjudged foreign cultural perspectives and motivations.

The iranians have ALREADY done exactly what I wrote in lebanon, yemen and across the mideast. Nothing funnier than a poster claiming "reality" who has no idea what it is, and ignores the little they are aware of.

Uh what "sunni" oppression are we talking about? assad is a minority dictator in a country that is 85% sunni.

I guess you aren't familiar with the 1400 year long ecumenical schism. Daesh (ISIS) are radical sunni wahabbis who believe in the superiority of the medanan portion of the sunnah and are killing fellow muslims by the thousands (mostly but not exclusively shia). This is a seriously big sin in Islam. So, like all religious nutbars they declare their view is the only righteous view and all others are apostates who must be put to death. the concept is called takfiri and a takfir translates as "aspostate". Its sick extremisthypocritical (and tragically ironic) crap.

The USA has been a warmongering nation ever since WW2....the military industrial complex has taken over the government, and it has become 60 percent of the GDP of the USA....President Eisenhower in 1959 speech warned about this, and President Kenney further warned about the "invisible" covert government, but to no avail they have continued on their increase of aggression against any nation that disagrees with their brand of government, and seek to overthrow, even democratically elected governments who do not agree with their brand of "capitalism"...why is the USA doing this? They are power hungry and money hungry, and want to enslave the entire planet and bring it under their perverted sense of society..who is behind this? The globalists and their objectives for a one world government so they can control everything on planet earth...The USA used lies, deception, false information and everything in their diabolical playbook to achieve these goals....
