    For quite some time I have been asking myself what this thing called 'charisma' really is and if it even exists at all. According to Wikipedia 'charisma' is;
    I have no idea what any of this is actually supposed to mean and feel that the word is usually thrown around to describe someone "sympathetic", but I myself have never really used this word because it does not make any sense to me.

    To discuss:
    - Do you believe in 'charisma'? If yes, how would you define it?
    - Can charisma be learned/trained or is it something you are born with?
    - Is charisma necessary to become a leader?
    - is there any person whom you would describe as a good example of a "charismatic person"?

    Yes, I believe in charisma, but just like intelligence, it's not just one thing, it's a collection of things, some of which tend to come together. A rough outline at a definition would be "a social skill/talent which influences others' behaviours/thoughts indirectly".

    Charisma can definitely be trained and learned. I have picked up bits and pieces of it and successfully chosen to be better at it. I'm far from perfect of course, but I think I have affected others by using my social skills. Of course, it's probably a split between nature and nurture, but I tend (as I do in many things) to lean more towards nurture.

    Is it necessary to be charismatic to become a leader? Yeah, more or less. I guess there's nothing stopping you from being born into a 1600s lord who people have to follow, but most of the time, I'd say leadership comes from charisma. It can take many different forms, but in one way or another, I'd probably classify it as charisma.

    There are many charismatic people. Many can be seen as politicians, business leaders, entrepreneurs, entertainers and so on. There's a youtube channel, Charisma on Command, which goes through many examples of different styles of charisma, it might be a good place to look.

    it could come down to some one has the qualities that others want or want to be. those qualities could be real or deliberately portrayed as lone as the attracted believe its there, and in most cases they feel betrayed when they find out those qualities are not really there.

    a man like JFK could do no wrong, he had everything many of his generation admired and wanted to be like.
